There are many records in the historical records that Mention Yidi "Made Wine and Beauty" and "First Made Wine Mash", it seems that YiDi is the ancestor of wine making. Whether this is a fact or not needs to be further examined. One saying is called "Yi Di as sake mash, Du Kang as straw wine". There is no chronological distinction here, it seems to be that they are making different wines. "Mash" is a kind of glutinous rice that has been fermented and made of "mash". It is soft in nature, its taste is sweet, and it is mostly produced in Jiangsu and Zhejiang. Nowadays, many families still make their own mash. The mash is white and delicate, the thick paste can be used as a staple food, and the clear juice on it is quite close to wine. "秫", another name for sorghum. Du Kang's production of rice wine refers to the fact that the raw material used by Du Kang to make wine is sorghum. If yidi or Du Kang is insisted on being the founder of the wine, it can only be said that Yi Di is the founder of yellow wine, and Du Kang is the founder of sorghum wine.
There is a saying called "the prosperity of the wine, from the emperor, into the Yidi". This means that since the time of the Three Emperors and Five Emperors in ancient times, there have been various methods of making wine that are popular among the people, and it is Yi Di who summarizes these methods of making wine, and it has been passed down to future generations. Of course, those who can carry out this kind of summary and promotion work are not ordinary civilians, so some books identify Yi Di as the official who is in charge of making wine, which is probably not unreasonable. There are books that say that after Yi Di made wine, Yu once "desperately drank and neglected Yi Di", which also proved that Yi Di was very close to Yu's "official".
What era was Yi Di? Compared with Du Kang, the records in ancient books are more consistent, for example, in the Shiben, Lü Shi Chunqiu, and Warring States Policy, he is considered to be a person of the Xia Yu era. What kind of person is he in? Is it the "craftsmen" of the liquor industry, or the subordinates under Xia Yu? Where was he born and buried? There is no conclusive historical record. So, how did he invent winemaking? In the Warring States Policy, it is said: "In the past, the emperor's daughter ordered Yi Di to be beautiful as wine, to enter The Yu, the Yu Qin and the Ganzhi, the Sui Yi Di, the Absolute Purpose of The Wine, that is, in the hereafter there will be those who will destroy their country with wine." This passage is more detailed than the records of Du Kang's wine making in other ancient books. According to this record, the situation is roughly like this: Xia Yu's woman asked Yi Di to supervise the brewing of wine, and Yi Di made a wine with some efforts, so he dedicated it to Xia Yu to taste. After Xia Yu drank it, he felt that it was indeed very beautiful. However, Xia Yu, who was regarded by later generations as the "Prince of the Holy Ming", not only did not reward Yi Di for his meritorious work in winemaking, but instead alienated him from then on, not only no longer trusting and reusing him, but also cutting off his relationship with fine wine from then on. What else to say: There will be kings in the hereafter who have misled their kingdoms because of their excessive drinking. The consequence of this record being passed down to the world is that some people have greatly respected Xia Yu and promoted him as a clean and enlightened monarch; because of the "Yu Evil Will Wine", the image of Yi Di has become a villain who specializes in flattery and worship. This is really something that historians did not expect.
So, is Yi Di the "originator" of wine? Some ancient books also have statements that contradict the Shiben. For example, Confucius VIII's grandson Kong Que said that Di Yao and Di Shun were both kings who drank a lot of alcohol. The Yellow Emperor, Yao, and Shun all preceded Xia Yu, and Yao Shun, who preceded Xia Yu, was good at drinking, and who were they drinking wine made by whom? It can be seen that It is not accurate to say that Xia Yu's subordinate Yi Di "began to make sake mash". In fact, making wine with grain is a complicated procedure and process, and it is difficult to complete it by individual strength alone. Yi Di had the ability to invent wine first, which seemed unlikely. If he is a craftsman, a master, or an official who supervises winemaking, he summed up the experience of his predecessors, perfected the brewing method, and finally brewed a mash with excellent texture, which is still possible. Therefore, Guo Moruo said, "According to legend, Yuchen Yidi began to make wine, which refers to a more luscious and strong wine than the wine of the primitive social era." This statement seems more credible.
