Greatness comes from the ordinary, and the ordinary makes greatness. Zhou Li, president of the Sucheng District Social Welfare Institute, puts little bits of love into practice in her work and makes extraordinary achievements in ordinary posts. She has successively won the honorary titles of "Model Worker of Suqian City", "Most Beautiful Grassroots Communist Party Member" of Jiangsu Province, "National Pacesetter of Meritorious Service", and "Model Worker of Civil Affairs System" in China. On July 1, Jiangsu Province held a symposium to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the commendation meeting of "two excellent and one first", and was commended as an "outstanding communist party member of Jiangsu Province".
There are 76 employees in the Sucheng District Social Welfare Institute, including 72 disabled abandoned children and 4 widows and the elderly. For 25 spring and autumn seasons, Zhou Li dedicated her most beautiful fanghua to this special place; for more than 9,000 days and nights, she paid the hottest feelings in her heart to this special group. Along the way, sweat and tears, sour, sweet and bitter, her steps are still firm.
Before she got married, she became a "mother"
In 1996, after Zhou Li retired from the army, she came to work in the Social Welfare Institute in Sucheng District and was arranged to take care of a group of orphans and disabled children. She was in her early 20s, had not yet started a family, and had never dealt with children.
When she first came into contact with children in the welfare home, Zhou Li was shocked, 90% of these children suffered from congenital diseases such as cerebral palsy, cleft lip and palate, and heart disease. She confessed that she had thought about escaping at the time, but not long after, a child opened her mouth and called her "Mother". It is also this "mother" that has become the source of strength for her perseverance.
It was a girl with severe cleft lip and palate, who was abandoned by her parents at the door of the welfare home at birth. Zhou Li fed her milk, bathed, dressed her every day, and patiently taught her to walk and talk. The child with cleft lip and palate has a clear mouth, but the first sentence she learned is to call Zhou Li "mother". Zhou Li, who is not yet married, became a "mother" first.
Although they are not flesh and blood, they are still parents
Zhou Li's son, Xiao Chen, is now working, and most of his childhood has been spent in the welfare home, writing homework with the children in the welfare home, playing together, and sharing his mother's love. Referring to his mother, Zhou Li's son Xiao Chen is slightly "vinegary".
Zhou Li, who was ashamed of her son's small emotions, did not say much, she told Xiao Chen, "Whether it is my own son or the children of the welfare home, the name for me is 'mother'. Those children have unfortunate experiences, I am a 'mother', I must make each of their children happy, from the beginning of them calling me 'mother', we have agreed. ”
Surgery means that for orphans and disabled children, it means that the pain is alleviated, it means that life is extended, and it means that they can live like normal children. To this end, Zhou Li ran all over the surrounding hospitals and knew the characteristics of each hospital well: which hospital had the greatest grasp of cleft lip and palate surgery, where the experts were the most authoritative for heart disease diagnosis and treatment, which hospital was best at treating skin diseases... Every child admitted to the hospital for surgery, Zhou Li has to personally take care of it. The child hurts, she also hurts; the child cries, she cries; the child laughs, she laughs.
"Although they are not flesh and blood, they still have the hearts of their parents." This sentence is the motto that Zhou Li insists on when she works.
The road is warm and light, and the story of love continues
Zhou Li's itinerary rarely has the word "weekend" on her schedule, sometimes she is too busy, leaving early and returning late, and she can't see her children and her frail and sick mother for ten days and half a month in a row, which makes her feel deeply guilty. Fortunately, her family always comforted her: "As long as you take good care of the elderly and children in the hospital, arrange them well, and do a good job, it is enough." It was also the understanding and support of her family that gave her the determination to continue walking.
25 years have passed, and many of the children in the welfare home have grown up. Zhou Li's persistence has finally gradually been "rewarded". Su Baibai, who was abandoned by his parents because of congenital diseases, grew up in a welfare home, and after graduating from university, he successfully passed the Suqian People's Political Consultative Conference Counselor Recruitment Examination and returned to the welfare home to contribute with "Zhou Mama". Su Baibai said: "I will always hold a grateful heart, take root here like 'Mother Zhou', and use my whole body and mind to help those children who have similar experiences to me." ”
On November 8, 2013, two girls raised by Zhou Li got married at the same time, and the welfare home held a warm and romantic public welfare wedding for the two couples. Zhou Li bought a full set of dowries for the two of them according to the custom of marrying their daughters in lao su. After marriage, the two had a beautiful daughter and a cute boy respectively. For these two "daughters", Zhou Li is finally completely relieved - the pain of being abandoned may not be completely healed, but the continuation of life will give them the ability to love and be loved.
In the past 25 years, Zhou Li has taken care of more than 200 children. Under her careful cultivation, the children gradually integrated into the society and had a happy home.
"I am a party member, and taking good care of these elderly people and children is to practice the mission and responsibility of a communist party member!" Zhou Li loves and is loyal to the party's welfare cause, and to this day, she still shines in her ordinary post and radiates heat, and uses love to cultivate the "happiness flower" of the welfare cause.
