Four hundred years of agitation: Sima Yu was worried, and the second king made an obstruction from Huan Wen to miss the regency

This article is the 169th in a long series, Four Hundred Years of Turmoil

In December of the first year of Xian'an (371 CE), Jian Jian moved the seat of Liangzhou to Jincheng under the title of Hezhou Assassin Li Wei (河州) and the town of Liangzhou (枹汉).

This move made Zhang Tianxi feel great pressure, so he set up an altar in the west of Guzang City, punished three animals, led his subordinate officials to look at the Eastern Jin Dynasty, and then sent Han Bo, who was engaged in Zhonglang, to dedicate the seal, deliver the covenant, and also brought a letter to Huan Wen, agreeing to meet the alliance in Shangyi next summer.

Unsurprisingly, Zhang Tianxi's letter to Huan Wen sank into the sea, and Huan Wen was not only not interested, but also had no time. Two things involved Huan Wen's energy, one was to quell the Yu rebellion, and the other was that Sima Yu was seriously ill, and he wanted to plan a Zen position, at least a regency.

On March 25 of the second year of Xian'an (372 AD), the Eastern Jin court sent the servant Wang Tanzhi to recruit Huan Wen to join the imperial government, and Huan Wen resigned again and continued to sit in the town of Gu.

Guyi was less than a hundred miles away from Jiankang, and Huan Wen's army could be launched at night, exactly like before Wang Dun raised his army, sima Yu was deeply disturbed, so that his worries became ill.

In April, in order to eliminate the hidden dangers completely, Huan Wen moved Sima Yi to Xichaili in Wu County, ordered Shi Diao Yi of Wu to take charge of defense, and sent Yushi Guyun to supervise.

In June, Yu Xi and Yu Mi were not willing to fail, and wanted to take advantage of Sima Yu's death to struggle a little longer, and gathered troops with Wu Zun, the son of Wu Shen of the late Qingzhou Assassin Shi Wu, and took advantage of the night to enter Jingkou, and The Jinling Taishou Bian fled to Quhe.

Subsequently, Yu Xi falsely claimed to accept Sima Yi's secret orders and declared that he wanted to kill Huan Wen. When the news came, the city of Jiankang was in chaos, and martial law was imposed inside and outside.

Bian Yi reorganized his strength and sent two thousand soldiers from various counties to the crusade, but Yu Xi was defeated and closed the city to hold on. Huan Wen then sent Zhou Shaosun of the East China Sea To fight.

On the first day of July, Zhou Shaosun captured Jingkou and captured Yu Xi, Yu Mi, and his cronies and killed them all.

After such a toss, Sima Yu's condition worsened, and it was time for the oil to run out.

On July 23, Sima Yu urgently summoned Huan Wen to assist the government, and issued four edicts in a row within a day, but Huan Wen ignored them. If you don't give me a Zen position, why are you always on call?

On July 28, Sima Yu, who knew that his time was short, established his eldest son Sima Yao, who was ten years old, as crown prince, and his second son Sima Daozi as the evil king of Lang, and understood the state of Ji.

Speaking of these two brothers, it must be said that their mother, Li Lingrong, is too legendary.

Originally, when Sima Yu was the King of Huiji, he married Wang Shu's cousin as a concubine and gave birth to his eldest son Sima Daosheng and his younger brother Sima Yusheng.

Sima Daosheng was rude and impatient, and his character was not good, and all his mother and son were imprisoned and deposed and died, and the other three sons Sima Yu, Sima Zhusheng, and Sima Tianliu also died prematurely.

After that, Sima Yuzhong's concubines were sterilized for nearly ten years. Sima Yu was so anxious that he asked Xiangshi to observe them, and Xiangshi said, "It is not these people who can bear sons." ”

Sima Yu asked Xiang shi to observe the maid maid, and as soon as Xiang Shi saw a tall and black woman who was called "Kunlun" by the palace women, he exclaimed, "This is a person who will give birth to a son!" ”

Sima Yu almost fainted when he saw it, a woman was called Kunlun, you can imagine how fierce it was. But in order to have a son, Sima Yu still included her in the room.

Later, Li Lingrong gave birth to two sons for Sima Yu, namely Sima Yao and Sima Daozi.

After Sima Yao was made crown prince, Sima Yu issued a testament: "Sima Huanwen is regent according to the old rules of the Duke of Zhou. He also said, "The young son may be supplemented by those who are supplemented, and if they are not, they will be taken by themselves." ”

This scene is familiar with Liu Beituo's lone Zhuge Liang, but at this time, Sima Yu is not Liu Bei, Huan Wen is not Zhuge Liang, and Sima Yu is not playing with his heart, but a helpless move.

After seeing the edict, Wang Tanzhi directly tore it in front of Sima Yu. Sima Yu said weakly, "The world of decay comes from accidents, what are you not satisfied with?" ”

Wang Tanzhi said, "The world is the world of Emperor Xuan and Emperor Yuan, how can Your Majesty act arbitrarily?" ”

At Wang Tanzhi's insistence, Sima Yu revised the edict, saying: "The story of the great Sima of the family and state affairs, such as the story of Zhuge Wuhou and Wang Chengxiang. On the same day, Sima Yu died.

Suddenly, no one among the courtiers dared to establish an heir, and there was a human: "Sima Huanwen should be allowed to deal with it." Shangshu's servant Wang Biaozhi said, "When the Son of Heaven dies and the crown prince is established, how can Sima Da be qualified to raise objections?" If you ask him in person beforehand, you will definitely be blamed by him. ”

Therefore, Sima Yao, the emperor, took the throne for Emperor Xiaowu of Jin. At this time, Empress Chu suddenly issued an order that, because Sima Yao was young, Huan Wen should act according to the old rules of the regency of the Duke of Zhou.

The order had already been announced, but Wang Biaozhi said, "This is a major matter, and Sima Huanwen will definitely resign, which will lead to the suspension of government affairs and delay the construction of the tomb of the former emperor. "So it didn't work out.

Because Wang Tanzhi and Wang Biaozhi obstructed from it, Huan Wen did not rush to Jiankang at the first time, missing the best time to take over the power.

When Sima Yu was seriously ill, Huan Wen hoped that before he died, he would cede the throne to himself, and even if he did not give way, he should be allowed to be regent.

Now, knowing that the imperial court only asked him to assist the government, Huan Wen suspected that Wang Tanzhi and Xie An had done this, and he held a grudge against them.

Subsequently, the imperial court ordered Xie An to recruit Huan Wen to join the imperial government, but Huan Wen, who was angry, refused, once again missing the opportunity to control the imperial government.

When the new monarch succeeded to the throne, Huan Wen refused to enter the dynasty, and not only did the courtiers see that the situation was not right, but even some cattle, ghosts, and snake gods jumped out and wanted to take advantage of this opportunity to take advantage of the fire.

For example, there was a demon in Pengcheng named Lu Hu, who claimed to be a Dao Dao sacrifice wine, and there were more than eight hundred people loyal to him.

In November, Lu Hu sent his disciple Xu Long to Wu County to find Sima Yi, saying that the empress dowager had issued a secret edict to welcome him to the great cause of rejuvenation. Sima Yi was a little moved at first, but then heeded the advice of the nanny and gave up.

Xu Long was anxious: "Big things are about to succeed, how can you listen to women's words?" Sima Yi said, "I have been convicted here, and I am fortunate to be forgiven, so how dare I act rashly!" Moreover, if the empress dowager has an edict, she should let her subordinate officials come, so why only send you? You must be making trouble! The people around him tied him up, and Xu Long was frightened and turned to flee.

On the fifth day of the first month of November, Lu Hu led a crowd of three hundred soldiers to attack Guangmomen in the morning, falsely claiming that Sima Yi had returned, breaking into the palace courtyard from the YunlongMen gate and seizing the armor and staff in the arsenal, and the guards were horrified and overwhelmed.

When the guerrilla general Mao Anzhi heard about it, he led his soldiers directly into the Yunlong Gate and personally participated in the battle. Subsequently, the Left Guard general Yin Kang and the central leader Huan Mi entered the stop gate and quelled the rebellion with Mao An.

Sima Yi was greatly panicked by this, and from then on he specialized in drinking, making a fuss, giving birth to all his sons and killing them, helping Huan Wen to lie and also prolong his life. The imperial court and Huan Wen knew that he was content with humiliation, and they were no longer defensive against him.

Later, Sima Yi lived to the age of forty-four, the longest-lived of Sima Shao's descendants, but also the most humiliating.
