The above dialogue took place in ancient times more than 1,000 years ago.
At that time, it was the three hundred years of chaos in the Southern and Northern Dynasties of Wei and Jin. Wars are still raging and fighting endlessly, so the world does not know how many lives and deaths have been added.
One winter, a Northern Dynasty general named Lu Kai was leading a large army and riding through Meiling.
In winter, Meiling is beautiful, with plum blossoms blooming in the cold, and is considered by the locals to be the messenger of primrose. The plum blossoms are blooming, and spring is not far away.
Lu Kai walked through Meiling, saw plum blossoms all over the mountains, and suddenly remembered his friend in the north, Fan Ye.
Since I remembered it, I wanted to send something from Gangnam to do a thought. Come to think of it, the land of Jiangnan is not the homeland, and there is nothing to send, only this plum blossom that spreads over the mountains and represents spring, which is the most valuable gift.
After folding the plum blossoms, an emissary came to the official road and sent a letter to the north.

The "Jingzhou Chronicle" records: "Lu Kai and Fan Ye befriended each other, sent a plum blossom branch from Jiangnan, and gave poems to Chang'an and Ye. ”

The poem only looks at the literal meaning and is easy to understand:
I was folding plum blossoms when I came across an emissary who was rushing north, so I begged him to send this flower and a poem to you who were in the middle of the dragon.
In this part of Jiangnan, there is nothing to get out of hand, so I have to send this flower representing spring to the cold north and look forward to the arrival of spring.
Longtou is a place name in today's Shaanxi Province; the Longtou people, of course, refer to Fan Ye.
A particularly controversial point of this poem is the third sentence, "Gangnam has nothing."
Many people think that Jiangnan, the land of abundance and prosperity, has been like this since ancient times. Although it was during the Southern and Northern Dynasties of Wei and Jin, the two banks of the Qinhuai River must also be a metropolis full of red and green, how could it be "nothing".
Of course, it is not wrong to think like this, after all, Jiangnan had already developed a part of it at that time, and Jinling, the ancient capital of the Six Dynasties, was also a product of that era.
But I think that when the poet says that Jiangnan has nothing, he should not really feel that Jiangnan has nothing good, but uses the technique of wanting to promote the first and contrasting before and after.
Using "Jiangnan has nothing" to reduce the expectations of friends and readers, and suddenly a sentence of "talk about giving a branch of spring" later shows the deep friendship represented by this plum blossom, sincere and moving.
Is Gangnam okay? Absolutely. But even if jiangnan is so good, I don't think there is anything worthy of the friendship between you and me, only this plum blossom that represents the meaning of spring can cross the barrier of time and space and pin my thoughts on you.

The Southern and Northern Dynasties of the Wei and Jin Dynasties, especially the Southern Dynasties, were particularly popular for the fuyan palace words. As a general, Lu Kai wrote this poem that is exactly the opposite of the palace word.
The poem is very simple and very affectionate. There is not as much contrived and carved as in the palace poetry, but it is full of the fun of natural nature.
