However, when you take a step back and compare your present self to your previous photos, you realize how much the passage of time has affected all of us. The celebrities we love feel the same way we do.
Dutch graphic designer Ard Gelinck has photographed famous actors, musicians and other celebrities in cool poses with their younger selves, giving us a unique perspective on how much they have changed over the years. With more than a decade of work experience in Photoshop's "then and now" series, Ade has amassed a large number of loyal followers on Instagram, with more than 290,000 eagerly awaiting his next post.
"Sometimes, I react to a piece of news, a birthday or a day of death, and then I take the editor of the celebrity as an honor or celebration," Alder said.
He spends an average of an hour on any one picture. However, this time may decrease or increase depending on the complexity and type of photos used. Sometimes, the time can drop to half an hour or rise to two or three hours. "A lot depends on the photos. Sometimes I'm looking for longer than I'm making. ”
Ade said all of his pictures were made with Adobe Photoshop, which he himself learned to use. “
"I love reactions from all over the world, seeing and reading how it makes people smile and sometimes even make them emotional," said Ard, who loves how his photos affect people. "The list of celebrities who share my work with is also getting longer and longer. Big stars like Madonna, Sylvester Stallone, Tom Jones, Michael Douglas, Tina Turner, Rob Lowe, Gary Barlow, Ricky Jervis, and Snoop Doug have all shared my creations, which also excites me and gives me the energy to continue doing it. ”
"About 5 years ago, I edited photos for many Dutch celebrities and had success, so I started working with photos of foreign celebrities. The first was Madonna, who even posted my photos to her own instagram. ”
When Ade decides what kind of pose a celebrity poses, he considers a lot of factors. "I want to find a place where they stand together," he said, preferring his younger self to be closer to his older self.
According to Ade, his project resonates with a lot of people because people love nostalgia and miss the stars they love.
