At that time, most of the businessmen selling horses on the beach adhered to the idea of "breaking the wealth and eliminating the disaster", so they came according to Ma Yongzhen's regulations, until a person appeared, broke Ma Yongzhen's rules, and also sent Ma Yongzhen to the road of death.
This person is Gu Zhongxi. In 1879, Gu Zhongxi, a foreigner, brought more than thirty horses to Shanghai Beach to sell, and when the group had just settled in the carriage shop on Nanjing Road, Ma Yongzhen took a fancy to their horses.
So Ma Yongzhen used the excuse of buying a horse himself to take away all the horse farts in Gu Zhongxi's hand, but he did not pay a penny. When Gu Zhongxi discovered Ma Yongzhen's plot, he wanted to get his horse back, but the locals advised him not to put up with Ma Yongzhen, the land snake here. In the end, Gu Zhongxi could only bear this breath and gave up the horse to Ma Yongzhen.
But he didn't want to, the next day Ma Yongzhen actually took a look at one of Gu Zhongxi's entourage, and wanted to take people away under the same excuse. At this time, Gu Zhongxi really couldn't stand it, so he secretly sent this young man away.
When Ma Yongzhen learned of Gu Zhongxi's behavior, he was naturally ashamed and angry, feeling that he had ignored his own majesty, so he asked his disciples to tell Gu Zhongxi that he was going to invite him to drink tea at the Dongtian Tea House.
This drinking tea is naturally an excuse, an excuse to teach Gu Zhongxi a lesson. Gu Zhongxi himself knew Ma Yongzhen's purpose, but there was no other way but to take his own people to the banquet.
On the day of April 13, Ma Yongzhen and Gu Zhongxi both came to the "One Cave Heaven" tea house, and when the two were preparing to negotiate, Ma Yongzhen was suddenly hit in the face by a bag of lime, and his eyes suddenly could not recognize things. Gu Zhongxi, who saw this scene, decided to break the jar and smash it, killing Ma Yongzhen to regain his horse.
Gu Zhongxi and his men took advantage of Ma Yongzhen's blindness and slashed all the weapons in their hands at Ma Yongzhen. In the siege of a group of strong men, Ma Yongzhen, who had limited mobility, could not resist even if he was highly skilled in martial arts. Eventually he was cut down in a pool of blood. He was brought to the hospital too late and died that night.
