Editor's note: Xiaobian has written many articles about the death of a senior red 34th division official in Wentang, Quanzhou, Guangxi, and put forward his own speculations about who that high-ranking official is. Originally, based on my own knowledge, I thought that it was more likely that Cheng Cuilin, the political commissar of the division, would be more likely. After the article was issued, many netizens believed that the senior officer of the Red 34th Division who died in Wentang, Jeonju was Cai Zhong. But the information I have, Cai Zhong was sacrificed in Zhiluo Town, Fu County, Shaanxi, although I have not been to this place, but through friends learned that there is Cai Zhong's tomb, the tombstone said very clearly about his introduction. Although I am puzzled by this matter. Recently, Cai Zhong's hometown of Youxian County, Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province, had a friend named Cai Wenrui, who wrote a letter to this writer through Zeng Jianrong, deputy director of the Youxian Archives and History Bureau, and also believed that the high-ranking Red Army official who died in Wentang, Quanzhou, Guangxi, was Cai Zhong. His article is very polite, although he has a reputation for Xiaobian, but in order to maintain the integrity of his article, Xiaobian will not change. The following is Mr. Cai Wenrui's letter to the editor:

The place where the senior officers of the 34th Division of the Desperate Rear Guard Division died in battle
First of all, thank you for writing this meaningful article (Note: The author of this article, Mr. Cai Wenrui, should refer to "This senior red army official who died in Wentang, will it be Cheng Cuilin, political commissar of the Red 34th Division?"). The text is beautiful, the storyline is real and touching, and it is equipped with physical pictures, local people's memories, testimonies and so on. On behalf of the families of the martyrs, you have paid a series of unimaginable hard work, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude and high respect for this! After examining and consulting relevant historical materials, online articles on archival historical materials and local familiar stories, the following views are hereby put forward (for your reference, I am a native of Cai Zhong's hometown and work in the county seat. )。
I. The text mentions martyrs who sacrificed their lives:
(1) Cheng Cuilin, political commissar of the Red 34th Division, a native of Liuyang, Hunan, born in 1907 and died in 1934;
(2) Cai Zhong, director of the Political Department of the Red 34th Division (Editor's Note: The director of the Political Department of the Red 34th Division has three theories: Zhang Kai, Zhu Liangfang, and Cai Zhong), a native of Youxian County, Hunan Province, born in 1906 and died in 1934;
(3) Lü Gongyin, commander of the 102nd Regiment of the Red 34th Division, and the guards.
2. Place of Sacrifice: Wentang Village, Anhe Town, Jeonju County; Evidentiary Materials: [Reading History] "The Desperate Defender Division of the Xiangjiang Campaign - The 34th Division of the Red 5th Army" and the article of the reporter of the "National Defense Daily" "There is a kind of remembering called never forgetting" and so on.
Monument to the Sacrifice of the Red Army in Wentang Village
III. Interpretation of Duties (Duties at the Time of Sacrifice)
Cheng Cuilin and Cai Zhong were both one of the founders of the Autumn Harvest Uprising and the Jinggangshan Period in 1927, and participated in the Long March after the first, second, third and fourth anti-encirclement and suppression battles in the Central Soviet Region. However, you have an original article titled "Cheng Cuilin, the highest commander of the Central Red Army who died in the Battle of the Xiangjiang River", about Cai Zhong's position, in fact, it was reorganized by the Red Fourth Army in June 1930, and Cai Zhong served as the political commissar of the 34th Division of the Red Army, and in April 1934 he was appointed as the director of the Political Department of the 34th Division.
Evidentiary Materials:
1. Time and place of sacrifice: (1) [Reading history] Xiangjiang Campaign Desperate Defender Division - 34th Division of the Red 5th Army; (2) Defense Daily reporter article: There is a kind of memory, called never forgotten, etc.
2. Interpretation of the position: (1) "How many last people are left in the Red 34th Division" (there are the 1st, 2nd and 3rd leading members of the 34th Division) ;(2) [Red Memory] "Famous Xiang Martyrs in the Long March" ;(3) [Red Memory] "Xiang Red Army General in the Long March" ;(4) "Does the Red 34th Division Su Daqing have descendants, is Su Daqing's wife Xu Ting still alive" (The position and sacrifice are very clear, TV series content)
Fourth, the interpretation of the character image
You wrote that the officials in the play are the oldest, and they are the most difficult to carry when buried, which is in line with the character Cheng Political Commissar. We think that Cheng Cuilin is similar to the TV series characters, general in height; and the TV series character and prototype Cai Zhong is a very tall, burly high-ranking official who sacrificed, Cai Zhong is the brother of Cai Huiwen, the commander of the Gannan Military Region, who learns martial arts at home when he was a child, and has a martial arts training house (now called a gym), so he is physically strong, from the age point of view, Cheng was born in 1907, Cai was born in 1906, may be older, in line with the facts of the character.
Local insiders told reporters about the history of their fathers
Fifth, it is also a fact that the article mentions that there is a tomb in Zhiluo Town, Fu County, Shaanxi Province, which shows that you have conducted a lot of data research, but this is not in line with historical facts; there is han Wei's son Han Jingjing's account of his father as evidence, Cai Zhong died in the Battle of Xiangjiang, and in 2017 he went to the hometown of Cai Zhong in YouXian County, Hunan Province (with descendants); from the position of a political commissar who began the Long March of the Red Army to 1937 or the director of the political department is not historically realistic, and it is normal to be promoted early. From the data, the Zunyi Museum in Guizhou and the Jinggangshan History Museum have written that the two died in the Xiangjiang River (November 1934), and the CCP history books also identify it this way.
Through historical archives, historical documents, hometown stories and witness testimony: Han Jingjing's video in the "Reply to Letters Across Time and Space" column, "Chen Shuxiang (IV): 6,000 Martyrs' Successors" also tells cai Zhong's sacrifice in the Xiangjiang River. The article you wrote should mention Cai Zhong, their blood spilled on the land of Wentang Village in Anhe Town, Jeonju County, the New China Five-Star Red Flag has their blood, the merit book has their names, there are no martyrs, where did the republic come from, let us remember them for generations to come!
Sincerely
salute
Cai Wenrui

Xiaobian believes that Mr. Cai Wenrui's research and inference is still more reasonable. As far as the materials I have now, I agree with his point of view, but I don't know what my friends think?
