The dolphin deer family adds three cubs The lion-tailed monkey baby is extremely rare

With May Day approaching, the number of tourists visiting the Shanghai Zoo is gradually increasing. At this time, the herbivorous family is ushering in a wave of fertility peaks, including many rare protected animals: the first-class protected animal porcupine deer family has added 3 new ones; the rare lion-tailed monkey baby is carefully cared for by the family; the newborn hippopotamus baby has also become a new favorite, and the garden is collecting names for it...

The family of guinea deer, a national first-class protected animal, has recently had a baby born. In the 1980s, the dolphin deer, a genus of deer in the family Deer, was declared extinct in China. In 2007, a female baby deer just a few days after its birth was found in the Yongde Daxueshan National Nature Reserve in Yunnan Province, and was subsequently listed as a national first-class protected animal. Shanghai Zoo is one of the few zoos in China to raise dolphin deer, keepers continue to ponder breeding and breeding technology, since February this year, 3 mothers of dolphin deer have lived up to expectations and have given birth to 3 healthy babies.

On April 6, baby lion-tailed monkeys in the primate zone were born. Newborn baby monkeys are cared for by the mother monkeys, and the keepers do not interfere too much. The lion-tailed monkey, also known as the lion-tailed macaque, is an Old World monkey that lives in the Western Ghats and South India, and is distinguished by its silver-white mane around its head. Because of the mane around the face, the tail is shaped like a lion's tail, so it is named the lion-tailed monkey. Listed in Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), the lion-tailed monkey is endangered in the wild and extremely rare. Today, there are 10 lion-tailed monkeys in Shanghai Zoo, living in the "two rooms and one hall" exhibition area, and the group is led by a male lion-tailed monkey. Due to the strong sense of territory of lion-tailed monkeys, keepers usually observe lion-tailed monkey babies and can only be separated from the cage. If too close, male lion-tailed monkeys will come to demonstrate.

On the morning of March 20, the 18-year-old hippo mother of Shanghai Zoo successfully gave birth to her fourth child, and the male hippopotamus is currently in good condition. Newborn hippos weigh 30-40 kilograms, and after a few minutes, their heads can dive in shallow water and feed underwater close to their mothers. After three days, I was able to walk on all fours and go ashore with my mother. (Reporter Luan Yinzhi)
