Kong Qingsan, born in 1926, is a native of Wangshezhuang, Jinan, Shandong Province. In April 1948, he joined the People's Liberation Army and successively participated in the Battle of Jinan, the Battle of Huaihai, the Battle of Crossing the River, and the Battle of Shanghai. He joined the Communist Party of China in November 1949. In November 1950, Kong Qingsan participated in the Chinese Volunteer Army's entry into Korea and served as the fifth squad leader of the 92nd Artillery Company of the 80th Division of the 27th Army. Participated in the second campaign, carrying out the blockade mission on the Eastern Front.

On November 27, the 9th Volunteer Corps launched a campaign to encircle and annihilate U.S. forces in Chosin-ri, Jangjin County, HamgyongNam-do Province, North Korea. Kong Qingsan led five squads to the eighth company of sharp knife infantry of the main attacking force, performing the task of covering the assault troops. Kong Qingsan led the whole squad of fighters to run more than twenty kilometers to Reach Yuguli. This place is across the mountains and across the river is Xinxingli. The commander of the Eighth Company paused for a moment and then said: Comrades can't get around it. Whether this battle is fought well depends on whether we can eliminate this firepower point. Kong Qingsan had already understood the meaning of the eighth company commander. He said firmly and confidently: "Company commander, we will destroy it." "Because of the small post, the gun could not shoot directly. Kong Qingsan decisively pushed the infantry cannon with a killing radius of 25 meters to a small post only 20 meters away from the target, and immediately built a fortification on the ice. But the ridge was full of ice, light and hard, a pickaxe and a white dot, unable to build a position. What to do? He found a small dirt bag on the left, which, when he looked over, was a frozen stone, very frozen. He asked the warriors to push the cannon over and mount it, ready to fire. The right bracket of the cannon is suspended and cannot be fired. At this time, the US troops fleeing from the ditch are running towards Xinxingli, and if the US troops are allowed to meet in Xinxingli, the consequences are very serious. The situation is urgent. Regardless of his body, Kong Qingsan resolutely pressed his shoulder against the right bracket of the cannon and resolutely ordered the cannon to be fired. The warrior looked at the squad leader's struggling shoulder and couldn't bear to pull the fire. Kong Qingsan shouted in a row: "Pull the fire, pull the fire quickly!" "Boom!" A shell came out of the chamber. With the flames of the explosion, the independent house collapsed, the American fire point was destroyed, and the road of the commando team was opened, but Kong Qingsan was injured by the impact of the rear of the infantry cannon, and his abdomen was hit by a shrapnel, and he died heroically. The fighters rushed through the bombed American bunkers and rushed along the hillside toward Xinxingli.
