On the morning of June 11, some Citizens of Jinan reported to reporters that the Jinan Huyue Jiayuan construction site located in the north of the west section of Zhushun Road in Jinan City had recently excavated a number of tombs during construction. The reporter learned in the on-site interview that this was the family cemetery of Ding Baozhen, a famous minister at the end of the Qing Dynasty, the Ding Family Forest, in which a tomb with high regulations was found. After seeing the photos and videos of the scene and excavation, the descendants of the Ding clan believe that this should be the joint tomb of Ding Baozhen and his wife Chen. At present, Ding's descendants have collected from the construction personnel that some of the bones excavated from this joint burial tomb are suspected to be Ding Baozhen's skeletons.

Construction was underway when the cemetery was discovered, and the construction process was unique

At 10:00 a.m. on the 11th, the reporter drove to the Jinan Huyue Jiayuan construction site in the north of the western section of Zhushun Road, and because the staff of the construction site communication room refused to enter, the reporter had to look inside through the fence gate. I saw that the interior of the construction site was uneven, and most of the area was covered by green dust nets, and it was not clear where the tombs were dug. There is a piling machine in the northeast corner of the construction site, and several excavators are parked next to it.

According to Zhang Chuanming, a 65-year-old resident of Xindian Community, the cemetery of Ding Baozhen's family was located in this construction site, and people called it Ding Jialinzi at that time. In the northwest of the Ding family forest, there is the Ding Family Ancestral Hall, and there are five main rooms in the backyard, and three rooms in the east and west wings. His father came to Jinan to work after the founding of the People's Republic of China and later settled in Xindian. In the 1950s, the family lived in a house on the south side of the East Wing of the Ding Family Ancestral Hall.

When the grave was leveled in 1958, although he was only four years old, he vaguely remembered some of the situations at that time. At that time, after Ding Baozhen's tomb was excavated, the coffin was dug up for use. The joint burial tomb found now should be Ding Baozhen's tomb. Although it was large, there was no coffin inside, which was consistent with his memory. In addition, the construction process of this burial chamber is very unique, using triad soil.

Another Sindian resident, who did not want to be named, told reporters that he had heard that a total of five or six graves had been dug up, and there were coffins in other graves.

Descendants of the Ding clan: Before the Qingming Dynasty, they came here to look for the remains of Ding Gong, but they have not been found

Later, after several inquiries, the reporter finally met Ding Baozhen's eldest grandson of the sixth clan, Mr. Ding Jun, 46 years old, in a hotel located in the North Quanfu community, who had rushed from Guangzhou to Jinan on a special trip.

"This is part of the skeleton of the joint tomb that I got by hand from the construction staff who drove the excavator, a skull and a leg bone, which should be the remains of Bao Zhengong. There was also a slightly smaller head that I hadn't gotten, and that was supposed to be The Remains of Mrs. Chen. Mr. Ding Jun carefully opened a cardboard box on the desk while telling reporters.

According to Ding Jun, the search for The remains of Ding Gong has always been a long-cherished wish of him and many descendants of the Ding clan. Hearing that the Ding family forest area was going to carry out project development, he rushed over before the Qingming Of the Year, first confirming the location of the Ding Family Ancestral Hall and the Ding Cemetery through the local elderly, and then finding an old map, synthesizing these and starting to draw a map, determining the location, and also looking for aerial photography, locating through the nearby railway culvert. In the end, he found the construction unit and asked them to help find the remains of The Ding family.

The construction unit also gave great help, but because the memory of the local elderly people found was not very accurate, they searched for ten days, but no tomb remains were found in the area searched. Because of his work, he had to leave Jinan temporarily, but when he left, he entrusted many people in the local area to help him watch whether the tomb would be dug up next at the construction site.

coincidental? The excavation of the remains coincided with the second day of Ding Baozhen's birth

"After two months of silence like this, I was a little hopeless, but at this moment there was a turnaround, like a coincidence, and it was like there was providence in the underworld. On June 1, the 200th birthday of Duke Baozhen, his remains were exhumed at the construction site on June 3. Mr. Ding Jun told reporters with some excitement that he learned about it from the informed population for several days after the incident, and he had to thank the college entrance examination. Because of the college entrance examination, the construction site was suspended. Only then was he able to see the tomb.

Now the tomb is still there, half exhumed, and half of the wall remains.

A few days ago, after Ding Jun came to Jinan again, after several twists and turns, he finally saw the short videos and related photos taken when the joint burial tomb was found. From these images, it can be seen that when the construction workers dug out the tomb on the spot, they also burned paper to worship it, and the video can be heard: "Double cave, this is a double cave." ”

According to Ding Jun, a total of five or six tombs were excavated at the site, and this double-cave tomb was the largest, but there were no coffins inside. Its burial system is also different from other tombs, this tomb has arches, and the burial chamber is not brick, but is built of rammed earth. He had inquired that this kind of process was often used in the tombs of the late Qing Dynasty, and the triad soil was mixed with glutinous rice, lime and straw. It was very strong, the construction workers said, and the excavators were difficult to dig up. Therefore, this double-cave tomb should be the joint tomb of Ding Baozhen and Lady Chen. Although the regulations are high, it is not very luxurious, which is in line with Ding Baozhen's family situation at that time.

It is understood that after the discovery of this double-cave tomb, Ding Jun went back to visit the local old man Zhang Chuanming, who had been looking for that day, and The Ding Baozhen that Zhang Chuanming vaguely remembered was at the same latitude as the double-cave tomb found now, which could be 70-90 meters west. Zhang Chuanming said after the excavation of the double cave tomb that this double cave tomb should be Ding Baozhen's tomb, and originally it should have been his misremembered position, and what he said about the exhumation of Ding Baozhen's tomb coffin was completely consistent with this double cave tomb.

"It is estimated that after the coffin was dug up, some well-meaning people put the remains of Bao Zhengong and his wife back into the original tomb." When he said this, Ding Jun's eyes showed a grateful look. According to his understanding, before Ding Baozhen's tomb was leveled in 1958, he had been robbed of his tomb, and his imperial clothes, beads and glasses were all stolen, and the person who stole the tomb was also sentenced that year.

"I most hope that the remains of Ding Gong can be properly placed in Jinan"

"I have asked my friend to find the relevant institutions to make an appraisal of the remains found, and finally confirm that his identity is Baozhen Gong." Ding Jun said that after the suspected remains of Baozhen Gong were discovered, some elderly people in the Ding family expressed the hope that Ding Baozhen's remains could return to their hometown, Zhijin County, Guizhou Province, where people admired Ding Baozhen and would be properly buried after returning.

"But I personally still hope that the remains of Baozhen Gong can be properly placed in Jinan." The land next to the tomb was originally the location of the Ding Family Ancestral Hall, and I heard that next year it will also be auctioned, and it is very suitable for the Ding Family Ancestral Hall to be restored, plus the memorial hall, and then according to the photos and videos, the tomb will be relocated to the original appearance. Don't know if this kind of thinking is possible? Ding Jun said that when Duke Baozhen was alive, he had looked for someone to check the source of the Ding family. The Ding family, which was a descendant of Jiang Taigong, moved from Shandong to Jiangxi and then to Guizhou. Therefore, Baozhen gong also believed that Shandong was his hometown. In addition, his wife and second brother left earlier than him and were buried in Jinan, and many of the descendants were buried in the Ding family forest.

In the afternoon, Ding Baozhen,5th Grandson Ding Jian, who lived in Jinan, also rushed to Ding Jun's hotel to pay homage to Ding Gong's remains. In an interview with reporters on the phone, Ding Jian said: "I have repeatedly gone to the Linzi area of the Ding family to find the whereabouts of Ding Baozhen's tomb. At present, the place where the double cave tomb was excavated is also the tomb site of Ding Baozhen's tomb that he has verified many times. ”

"Now that the construction site is closed, I can't go in and see what's going on." From the photos, I saw that the cemetery was churned into a mess, and the bones were scattered, and I was very unhappy in my heart. Ding Baozhen is not only a celebrity of our family, he is also a historical figure who has made outstanding contributions to Jinan and Shandong, and the people of Jinan should be kind to a person like him who regards Jinan as his second hometown. I hope that the relevant departments can immediately stop the construction of the construction site, and the archaeologists will enter the scene as soon as possible to clean up, and I hope that the relevant departments can take this opportunity to build a Tomb of Ding Baozhen so that he will stay in our city forever. On the phone, Ding Jian told reporters with some excitement.

Relevant departments: Coordinating the intervention of the cultural relics law enforcement department

On the afternoon of the 11th, Ms. Wang, who is in charge of cultural relics work in the Culture and Tourism Bureau of Licheng District, said when questioned by reporters that they had not received reports from the masses about the discovery of Ding Baozhen's cemetery, and had just seen news reports on the Internet. She said that there is no tomb of Ding Baozhen in the registered cultural security units in Licheng District. Ding Baozhen's tomb was damaged during the Cultural Revolution, and the specific address is unknown. Whether the tomb reported on the Internet is Ding Baozhen's tomb is still difficult to say. She said that since the relevant situation is now known, it will be properly handled as soon as possible.

Yu Rong, deputy director of the Jinan Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and deputy director of the Jinan Municipal Cultural Relics Bureau, told reporters that she had learned of the relevant situation and was currently coordinating with the Jinan Municipal Cultural Market Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau to transfer the relevant information to them. Because the power to enforce the law on cultural relics has been handed over to the Integrated Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau, they will deal with it on the spot.
