On October 28, the rainforest expedition of the GSE Global Social Entrepreneur Project kicked off. As an extension of the first semester, GSE students will go deep into the Wild Elephant Valley to observe the behavior types of Asian elephants and the relationship between Asian elephants and large herbivores and the environment, and through their understanding of the gully rainforest built with longan and thousand fruit olive kernels, they will continue to seek the combination of human social ecology and natural ecology to promote the integration of society and nature.

Asian elephants are known as the engineers of the rainforest, but also the umbrella species in the ecosystem, its population characteristics, behavior habits affect the entire area, and in order to protect The Asian elephants, to understand the problems and crux of the protection, you need to understand the Asian elephants more deeply.
In the case of not interfering with the elephant herd as much as possible, GSE students used a scientific and unified method to observe and record every hour, so as to cultivate the students' field tracking skills, observation and judgment skills, communication and expression, teamwork ability, and establish a scientific and rigorous attitude and understanding of the spirit of cooperation.
Walking through the mud and brushing away the dense tropical plants, the very typical tropical rainforest form of Shuangbanna, Shanxi Province, appears in front of you. This is a gully rainforest based on longan and thousand fruit olive kernels, where the low altitude and abundant water sources form one of the bases for the suitable habitat of Asian elephants.
Under the leadership of Xiang Dad, Gse students began to use scientific and interesting methods to further understand the big trees in this forest. Measuring tree height, measuring chest diameter, measuring tree age, calculating canopy cover... Gse classmates are busy and happy.
This link can understand the growth of a large tree through measurement data, and then combine some existing cognition to initially understand a large tree, understand the secret that they can become a big tree, can gain advantages, and can dominate the forest.
