Legendary comedian Norm Macdonald has died. He was one of the most memorable stars of Saturday Night Live with his unique cold-faced humor. He reportedly died on Tuesday, September 14 at the age of 61, after a 9-year covert battle with cancer.
Macdonald's brokerage firm, brillstein Entertainment, confirmed his death. Lori Jo Hoekstra, a longtime partner and friend of Macdonald,000, revealed that McDonald has been secretly battling cancer for nearly a decade. He chose not to let fans know about his health, nor did he let his family and friends know.
"What he's most proud of is his comedy," Hookstra told Deadline. "He never wanted this diagnosis to affect the audience or the perception of him by people he loved. Noam is a pure comedian. He once wrote that jokes should catch people off guard, not pander to others. He certainly never pandered. We will miss Norm very much. ”
Norman gene Macdonald was born in Quebec City on October 17, 1959. Macdonald was successful as a stand-up comedian in the '80s and early '90s, including making cameo appearances on star search. He then found a job writing screenplays for the TV series Roseanne. Soon after, he left the crew and joined Saturday Night Live in 1993, where he performed until 1998. Macdonald is best known for hosting the weekend update, which some of his successors see as a source of inspiration.
