Today, I would like to introduce a super relaxed alpine flower route to friends who like naturalistic observation, recall the beautiful youth, and I also turned over the old photos and enjoyed it.
When it comes to the beauty of alpine flowers, people who like flowers are certainly not strangers. However, there are many troubles in seeing flowers in high mountains - good places are more people spend less damage, good environment is not easy to reach, driving for ten days to hike dozens of kilometers is normal, carrying a camera to climb the mountain for a few days is also common for us. There aren't many places like Blue Moon Valley that have the best of both worlds.
The Blue Moon Valley is outside Shangri-La, and there is a local name called Shika Snow Mountain. It got its name because the valley from the sky looks like a crescent moon. Our Shangri-La Flower Viewing Tour in the previous few years was an important stop here.

Blue Moon Valley was developed late, its popularity is not high, and the number of tourists is small. Combined with the 4500-meter elevation of the main peak, it is not the hottest spot in Shangri-La, which is undoubtedly good news for field observation.

It is only about eight kilometers from shangri-la city to the Blue Moon Valley, and a taxi is only 30 yuan. From the scenic gate is an extra-long cable car that can be taken all the way to the foot of the main peak at an altitude of 4400 meters. This cable car is one of the largest cable cars I have ever seen in China, rising more than a thousand meters above sea level, and it takes more than half an hour to sit. This road made me climb up, I'm afraid I won't be able to climb up for a day. The cable car goes directly to the alpine flowing rocky beach, which is very rare in the country.

After getting off the cable car, there is directly a high mountain flowing rocky beach and meadow terrain, which is a paradise area for flower watching enthusiasts. Many of the flowers unique to the mountains bloom here one after another, and every half a month, the flowers change in batches, from June to early autumn.
It's windy, the big flowers are untenable, and some small, delicate herbs are flexible and grow tenaciously on the meadows. Such as cabbage, tiger ear grass, fly grass and so on are common groups here.

The best way to see the flowers is to take the cable car to the top of the mountain and then go all the way down, which saves a lot of effort.
There are two main boardwalks down the mountain, one is along the ropeway down, the vertical change of this road is large, a bit of a sense of changing scenery, cuckoos and other woody more, the other road is to detour the side, walk for a few hours, but the species is more abundant and easy to find, and you can also pass the holy lake of Shika Snow Mountain - Lingxi Lake.
Local Tibetan farmers and herdsmen regard the "Lingxi Lake" as a sacred lake, and when there is a drought, people will come to the lake to burn incense and pray, praying for the mountain gods and lake gods to rain and eliminate the disaster.
But if people go to the lake in the rainy season, they are generally not allowed to make loud noises, let alone shoot guns, otherwise they will immediately rain and have nowhere to hide.

Descending from the main peak, you will soon enter the Rhododendron Forest Belt, where rhododendrons bloom in the spring and in the summer on the nearby rocky beaches.
Jellyfish snow rabbits are the most representative species in this area. Because of the high altitude and cold weather, these plants have evolved ways to defend themselves against the cold – they are covered with fluff, warm and waterproof.
Sure enough, I went to this area twice to catch a short hailstorm, fortunately we were no dumber than the snow rabbit, it had fluff, and I had a storm suit.

"Shika" is a Tibetan transliteration of Shangri-La, and in the prayer "Sacrifice Words of Shika Sacred Mountain - Ruyi Treasure Tree" written by the Living Buddha of Songmu at Songtsanlin Monastery, "Shika" means "mountain with red deer". The red deer is one of the mascots of Tibetan Buddhism, and after Buddha Shakyamuni attained enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, he preached to the world in Luye Garden. Later generations referred to the Buddha's teachings as "turning the wheel of The Falun" and gave it the meaning of "auspiciousness."
Although the altitude is only 4500 meters, it is the only sacred mountain in the world that can overlook the eight snowy mountains such as Meili, Yulong, Haba, and Daocheng Aden Sansheng in the World.
Eight sacred mountains resemble eight white lotus flowers wrapped the Shika Snow Mountain in the center, in the center of the divine realm, and was once a place for senior monks to learn about the nature of heaven and earth and the cultivation of Dharma beings.

There are several kinds of green velvet in the Blue Moon Valley, and the altitude distribution is relatively large, from the top of the mountain to the foot of the 3,000 meters can almost be seen. Easy to see on the flowing rock beach is the broad-leaved green velvet artemisia, this green velvet artemisia thorn is thick and long, not a decoration, prick really bloody. Yaks in the mountains sometimes nibble on Artemisia annua, a defense mechanism that keeps them from extinction to the maximum.

There are also many spectacular guys under the forest, such as a one-person tall false lily, a boat leaf with a leaf as big as an umbrella, an ear leaf phoenix immortal living near the water, and a beautiful and robust Zhongdian kingfisher. It is in stark contrast to the low alpine plants just now.
These high-altitude forest plants in the southwest mountains have many endemic species, and the harvest is not small if you look carefully.
