In 1935, the Red Army crossed the Chishui River in Anshunchang, Sichuan, temporarily getting rid of the enemy's encirclement and suppression. At this time, the Red Army urgently needed a guide, otherwise it would go the wrong way and face the danger of being chased by the enemy at any time. At this time, the two soldiers noticed a very strong young man on the side of the road and went forward to inquire. Who knows, no matter how he talks to him, he will not answer, only the analogy of "babbling". The soldiers, fearing that he was the enemy disguised as spying on the military intelligence, escorted him back to the army.
Later, through observation, everyone found that he was indeed deaf and mute, and the chief approved to let him go home. But he refused to go, and there he could compete. Everyone even guessed that He didn't want to leave the troops because he knew that the troops had food to eat.
At that time, the Red Army did need to replenish its combat effectiveness, so it kept him for the time being. After a few days, everyone found that dumb people are smart and can also suffer hardships. After deliberation, the leaders of the troops decided to keep him and make him a real Red Army soldier. In this way, the dumb man began his journey to the Red Army.
Dumb people have three no's: they can't listen, they can't speak, they can't write, the troops can't find his hometown and relatives, and the comrade in charge of registration can only fill in the name column of his registration form with "dumb" and his address is written "Along the Dadu River in Sichuan." Unexpectedly, such a resume actually followed the dumb all his life.
Due to the special situation of the mute, the troops placed him in the cooking squad. Dumb people can endure hardships, eye work, dirty work and rush to do it. He also cared about his comrades-in-arms very much, and stepped forward many times to eliminate dangers for his comrades-in-arms, so everyone liked him very much.
When the Red Army crossed the snowy mountains, the soldiers of the cooking squad needed to carry the pot on their backs and carry the weight forward. Receiving the information, the dumb man twisted the note with the enemy's position into a slender strip, carefully twisted it in the middle of the thick hemp rope, and then wrapped the rope around his waist, took an axe, picked up a bundle of firewood and pretended to be a nearby villager, successfully evaded the enemy's eyes, and sent the information out.
Another time, because of the lack of supplies in the Yan'an area, Xie Xingkai, adjutant of the Central Guard Corps, took the mute to Luochuan to look for supplies. On the way back, they hoisted a few small bottles of penicillin that they had worked so hard to get into their dumb pants with ropes.

In 1983, Mute died in Beijing at the age of 89 due to ineffective medical treatment. With the approval of the central government, the dumb man was buried in the Babaoshan Revolutionary Cemetery, and there were only four short words on the tombstone: Comrade Dumb.
Later, after a large number of investigations, the relevant departments finally clarified the problem of the mute's origin. Dumb, formerly known as Xiong Shipi, was born in 1891 to the Xiong family under the Bamboo Hemp Farm in Hailuogou, Moxi Town, Luding County, Sichuan Province. But this is all after his death.
The mute is deaf and mute, the ears cannot hear, the mouth cannot speak, but his eyes are shining. He may not understand what faith is, but he has a pure heart, a clean soul, an incomparably firm heart, never flinched in the face of difficulties, and is worthy of admiration and learning from our descendants.
