Introduction and works of the French painter Renoir

author:Remira's grandfather

Renoir (1841-1919) was an important member of the Nineteenth-Century French Impressionist School. Born into a poor tailor's family in Limoges, France, he settled in Paris in 1845. At a young age, he liked to paint, and because of the compulsion of life, he worked as an apprentice in a porcelain shop. At the age of twenty-one, he began his formal undergraduate training in fine arts.

Renoir was an Impressionist figure painter known for portraying women and children. His use of colours is rich and delicate, especially to express the moisture of the skin of youth and children, and the edges of the contours of the figures are treated both rigorously and easily, blending with the background. His technique belongs to the typical Impressionist painting style, good at expressing the fluttering and clear atmosphere of sunlight and air with bright and transparent colors, and the bright and exquisite light and color performance, which makes him achieve outstanding color achievements, is a negation of the ancient academic art of the time, and is also a joyful celebration of the enthusiasm of youth and vitality. The "Private Room" and "Breakfast on the Yacht" selected here are his masterpieces.
