The Yellow Wagtail is a common lowland summer breeding bird, winter migratory bird and transit bird in China, India, Southeast Asia, the Philippines, Indonesia, New Guinea and Australia.
The yellow wagtail inhabits rice paddies , swamp edges and meadows , often in small flocks , feeding around livestock and buffalo ; medium-sized , about 18 cm long , with a short tail ; non-breeding body plumage is heavier and darker , with olive-green or olive-brown backs , and the males have yellow rumps ; the iris is brown , the beak is brown , and the feet are brown to black.
The breeding period of the Yellow Wagtail is from May to June, and it often nests in the grass on the ground, laying 4-5 eggs per nest and hatching for 14-15 days.
