Morphologically, the mid-sized partridge is about 18 cm long. The upperparts are predominantly olive-green , the underparts are yellow , the wing coverts are dark brown with white or yellow margins , and the wings have two thinr yellow transverse spots. The tail is shorter than that of the grey wagtail , except for the lateral tail feathers that are white , and the rest of the tail feathers are black. The eyes, mouth, and feet are all black brown.
Its habits inhabit the water's edge, grassland, farmland, and forest edges in plains and foothills, often moving in pairs or in small groups, running back and forth to feed on insects, often standing in the water or on rocks at the water's edge, and swinging its tail up and down. The flight is in the shape of waves, and the sound of "chirping, chirping" is emitted while flying. Traveling birds. Migration passes through farmland on the outskirts of the city and the Wen River Basin.
