Former WWE superstar Brian Danielson: AEW is more focused on wrestling itself than WWE

AEW star Brian Danielson (former WWE star Daniel Brian) made an appearance on an interview show, hosted by Andy Greche and Ricky Keefe.

Previously, Brian Danielson made his AEW debut at the annual event All Out in September, where he talked about what made him decide to sign for AEW.

"Well, one of those things is the desire for something new."

"I think we're all going to go to places where you like, 'Well, I've been doing wrestling for a while now, and I really like it, but I kind of want to try something else, do something different,'" Danielson said.

"That's certainly part of the reason, and the other big reason is that AEW is really focused on wrestling itself."

"I think you get more wrestling content on a two-hour AEW show than you get in five hours on a WWE show, and I'm a guy who loves professional wrestling, not something like constant show interviews."

"There are many reasons to join AEW, but when I talk about AEW, it doesn't mean I hate life at WWE, in fact, I love working at WWE, but I still decided to leave because the wrestling revolution that's happening in AEW right now is really exciting."

Danielson was previously forced to retire due to multiple head injuries.

Danielson also discussed where he would be if he didn't return to the ring, and his life in retirement.

"It's really hard because I think if WWE doesn't get me back as general manager, I'm still going to retire because I really like wrestling and I don't want to retire."

Danielson admitted. "I was kind of forced to retire and then WWE contacted me as general manager. If that hadn't happened, think I'd leave the wrestling industry and start my own little farm or something like that. ”

When Danielson returned at WWE, he had to undergo multiple concussion tests at the end of each game to make sure he could continue wrestling.

Danielson also discussed the benefits AEW brings to his wrestling style.

"One of the benefits of AEW is that I play low-density, high-quality content."

Danielson points out: "If you tell me, 'Hey, you're going to be a little lighter when you wrestle today.'" This is easier said than done, but in practice, it is not. ”

"I don't care if there are 20,000 people there, like at Arthur Ashe Stadium, I don't care if there are no spectators there, I've played live in many of the under 100. So really, it's about reducing the number of matches every year and focusing on the quality of each race and making sure that every time I go out I bring something to the live audience and make them happy to have the ticket price back today. ”
