The drama tells the story of the Period of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, when the National Sun Yat-sen University and other South China colleges and universities relocated to Shaoguan and other places in northern Guangdong, insisted on running schools in the midst of the flames, and a large number of outstanding intellectuals represented by Xu Chongqing, Du Dingyou, Lu Hefu, Wang Yanan, Ma Sicong, Hong Shen, Zhu Qianzhi, and Wei Zisong adhered to their scholarship, disseminated knowledge, educated people and saved the country, and wrote a moving and immortal chapter in the history of Chinese culture and educational development. Heroes and benevolent people, in times of national crisis, stand up and sacrifice their lives for righteousness; Chinese culture, in the midst of hardships and hardships, pass on the torch, innovative development.
The performance was guided by Dongguan Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports, hosted by Dongguan Municipal Cultural Center, and co-organized by Guancheng Cultural Service Center. It is understood that since 2017, the Dongguan Municipal Cultural Center has planned the "High-quality Performance into town street" project, investing millions of yuan every year to purchase and introduce drama, music, opera, song and dance, acrobatics and other cultural and artistic products from art academies at or above the provincial level and excellent folk art troupes, and distribute them to grass-roots town streets, strengthen the construction of rural public culture, and let the grass-roots share literary and artistic products.
This year, the Dongguan Municipal Cultural Center focused on the theme of red and joined hands with a number of outstanding theaters and troupes at or above the provincial level to bring red classic plays to the public. For example, Guangzhou Drama Theatre's "Spring Snow Runzhi", Guangdong Song and Dance Theatre's "Mission Will Be Achieved", Guangdong Provincial Drama Theatre's "Faith", Guangdong Cantonese Opera Troupe's "Red Turban", Guangdong Chinese Orchestra's "Singing Mountain Songs to the Party" and many other red high-quality performances and plays. A total of 35 high-quality performances are expected to be introduced throughout the year, all of which are free and open to the public.
