According to the "Report on the Development of China's Tourism Scenic Spots (2019-2020)" released by the Department of Resource Development of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Tourism Research and Planning Design Center of the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the total number of visitors to China's water landscape scenic spots in 2019 reached 788 million, second only to cultural relics scenic spots, ranking second in terms of reception volume among all scenic spots; China's water landscape scenic spots created a total tourism revenue of 73.134 billion yuan in 2019, second only to geological and geomorphological tourist attractions.
