Guo Fu, formerly known as Guo Junqing, is a national special female combat hero. Born in 1931, a native of Lingyuan County, Liaoning Province. Born into poverty, he was filled with hatred for the landlord class from an early age. In 1945, in order to avenge her father's murder by the landlord, she concealed her true gender, reported her age to two years older, and joined the army under the pseudonym Guo Fu. He has served as a communications officer, a guard, a squad leader, a company clerk and a deputy instructor. In the difficult war years, she dressed as a man for 5 years, and like the male comrades, she charged into the battlefield, fought on the battlefield, and was born and died for the liberation of the Chinese people, and repeatedly built miracles, known as "modern Mulan".
After Guo Junqing arrived in the army, his political and ideological consciousness increased rapidly and he actively moved closer to the party organization. She wrote in her application to join the party: "To serve the people is to serve to the end. In order to accomplish the Party's tasks, we must not be afraid of bloodshed and sacrifice. He joined the Communist Party of China in June 1947. Once, the squad leader asked her to send an order to the troops 30 kilometers away within 4 hours. It was dark and dangerous, and she rode a fast horse through the ravine, completing the task ahead of schedule. In the big family of the army, she cared for her comrades-in-arms with deep class feelings. Usually, whoever is sick, she helps cook sick meals; on the march, she helps comrades carry guns, backpacks, and rescue the wounded and sick. On a march through the waist-deep river, she took the lead in carrying the sick numbers one by one, but she herself suffered from gynecological diseases due to colds.
At the beginning of 1948, Guo Junqing was transferred to the third company and the fourth squad of a certain unit of the Northeast Field Army as a squad leader. Soon, the Battle of Hiraizumi began. The fourth squad led by Guo Junqing served as a assault squad and was responsible for capturing the second mountain beam in the east of the city. At that time, the class had only a dozen old-fashioned rifles and dozens of grenades, and most of the fighters were new recruits on the battlefield, facing more than 60 well-equipped enemies. After the battle began, Guo Junqing rushed to the front with a red flag. Suddenly, the deputy squad leader who was running beside her was shot and killed. She shouted "Avenge the Deputy Squad Leader" and took the lead in rushing up the mountain beam. The enemy launched a counter-charge, and she led her comrades in a white-knife fight with the enemy, and finally won the battle. Guo Junqing made meritorious contributions because of his wit and brave command, persisted in fighting with illness. The regiment also awarded the "Combat Model Class" pennant to the fourth squad.
In order not to expose the secret of her daughter's body, for 5 years, Guo Junqing never stripped off her clothes to sleep, nor did she bathe or go to the toilet with everyone. In April 1950, Guo Junqing, who was overworked, fell ill and was admitted to the hospital, and was found by doctors. In September of the same year, as a special combat hero, she attended the National Congress of Combat Heroes and was cordially received by Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi, Zhu De, Zhou Enlai and other party and state leaders. After the congress, Guo Junqing, as a member of the Chinese youth delegation, visited the Soviet Union and was warmly welcomed by the students of the Oriental University in Moscow. After returning to China, he entered Chinese University. After graduation, according to the organizational arrangement, Guo Junqing transferred to local work and successively served as the director of the first garment factory in Qingdao City, Shandong Province, and the deputy director of the Civil Affairs Bureau of Cao County, Shandong Province. After retiring in 1981, he settled in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province. He died in Nanjing in September 1983.
Guo Junqing's legendary life story was later adapted into the movie "Youth in the Fire of War", in which the prototype of the character Takayama is her.
