Luoyang bird record has just been refreshed! In the past few days, in the Mengjin Yellow River Wetland Conservation Area, the national second-level protected animal Spotted Chicken and the National "Three Haves" protected animal Western Buzzard have been monitored, and the two species are new records for birds in Luoyang City after the staff inspection literature and research data.

Spotted field chicken
Western Buzzard
The spotted field chicken belongs to the same crane-shaped buzzard family, a small wader, with olive-brown upperparts, brown chest rust, and black and white horizontal markings on both sides. When it is found, it is leisurely foraging in the rice fields in the middle of the reeds, enjoying the autumn time.
The Western Buzzard belongs to the Crane-shaped Family, originally a subspecies of the common Buzzard in Xinjiang, and later rose to become a species. It is mostly found in the western region of China, as a resident bird, and occasionally seen in Beijing, Hebei, Shandong and other places in winter. At that time, the Western buzzard was at the edge of the reeds, carefully looking around, looking for food.
In recent years, as Mengjin District has continued to promote the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin, strengthened the protection and restoration of wetlands, the wetland ecological environment has been significantly improved, and biodiversity has increased significantly. The reserve has successively discovered the new record of birds in Henan Province, and 5 new bird records in Luoyang: flamingos, warty-nosed swans, grassland eagles, iron-billed sandplings, and red-necked webbed sandpipers.
