Technology empowers Insurance Intermediaries in Shanghai to improve service quality and efficiency

During the driving of the bus, once the driver has a fatigue driving phenomenon, the on-board monitoring equipment will issue a voice reminder. If there are dangerous actions such as smoking and making calls, the system will also directly notify the relevant business leaders and safety officers, and warn the driver in a variety of ways.

Under the guidance of the Shanghai traffic management department, the "Shanghai Transportation Third-Party Safety Monitoring Platform" has conducted real-time monitoring of key operating vehicles in Shanghai since 2014. In the past 7 years, the scope of platform monitoring has been expanding, and the monitoring indicators have also been upgraded from the initial vehicle GPS monitoring to intelligent video surveillance. At present, the platform is ensuring the safe operation of 21,000 "two passengers and one danger" transport vehicles, 164,000 heavy freight vehicles and more than 12,000 earthmoving vehicles and mixer trucks in the city through 24-hour "supervision" throughout the year.

According to Ji Yisheng, general manager of Shanghai Plaza Premium Insurance Brokers Co., Ltd., the operator of the platform, the total number of alarms for key operating vehicles in Shanghai has dropped by 90% and accidents by 50% since the platform was running. "While urging transport enterprises to implement the main responsibility of monitoring and provide data support for accurate law enforcement by management departments, the platform also reduces the incidence of traffic accidents and the insurance compensation rate from the source by eliminating hidden dangers of accidents." Ji Yisheng said.

This third-party platform is a microcosm of the "technology" of insurance intermediaries. In the recent media research activities guided by the Shanghai Banking and Insurance Regulatory Bureau, sponsored by the Shanghai Insurance Association and the Shanghai Insurance Society, the reporter found that in Shanghai, more and more insurance intermediaries are actively exploring scientific and technological innovation to promote their own transformation and empower the insurance industry and social management.

The relevant person in charge of the Shanghai Insurance Association said that at a time when the development of insurance technology is in full swing, insurance intermediary companies have used big data, cloud computing, blockchain, artificial intelligence and other technologies to open up the insurance value chain and risk management links from the aspects of channels, products, services, risk control, etc., to promote the digital transformation of the industry by optimizing business processes, reducing labor costs, and improving user experience, and achieving remarkable results in serving people's livelihood security and urban governance.
