In the process of the liberation war, many large cities were peacefully liberated, of which the peaceful liberation of Beiping was the most sensational, and the ancient capital of the millennium was saved from the burning of war and became the capital of new China.

In the Liaoshen Campaign, Zeng Zesheng led the 60th Army to revolt and was accused of the uprising, why did the New 7th Army not stop it

This peacefully liberated city is the northeast important town of Changchun, on September 12, 1948, the Liaoshen Campaign began, with the victory of the Jinzhou Offensive, the People's Liberation Army successfully closed the northeast to Guannei gate, the realization of the "closed door to fight dogs" plan.

The People's Liberation Army adopted a plan to encircle and not attack Changchun, in fact, after Siping was conquered, Changchun had been reduced to an isolated city since March 1948, when Changchun was garrisoned by Zheng Dongguo, deputy commander of the Northeast "Suppression General" and his two armies.

Respectively, the newly organized 7th Army and the 60th Army, plus local security forces, a total of 100,000 people, this powerful enemy seriously threatened the PLA to fight south, in order to relieve the worries of the southward operation, the PLA with superior troops to Changchun to take up to 150 days of siege.

As the siege became longer and longer, the morale of the officers and men in the city became lower and lower, the most important thing was the food problem, at the beginning of the siege of the People's Liberation Army, the defenders in the city could still have 4 or 2 soybeans a day, and after entering August, most of the soldiers could only boil wild vegetable soup to maintain.

At the same time, there were many contradictions within the defenders, the New 7th Army was a subordinate unit, under the jurisdiction of the New 38th Division and the provisional 56th Division, 61st Division, of which the New 38th Division had more than 10,000 people, had defeated the Japanese army on the battlefield of Burma, the combat effectiveness was extremely strong, it was an elite unit of the Kuomintang, and the other two divisions were indiscriminate.

The 60th Army was the Yunnan Army led by Zeng Zesheng and other Yunnan generals; in the Kuomintang army, there had always been contradictions between non-concubine and concubine troops, and in the previous battles, the 60th Army had played the role of cannon fodder many times, and officers and men had long complained in their hearts, and this was the fate of the miscellaneous army.

However, do not underestimate the 60th Army, the 3 divisions under its jurisdiction are all units that have experienced 8 years of resistance, and their combat effectiveness is not inferior to that of the new 38th Division, when the commander-in-chief of the city, Zheng Dongguo, in order to cause a contradiction between the two units together, was divided into east-west defense areas with the main street in the center of the city.

The east is the defensive area of the 60th Army, and the west is the defensive area of the New 7th Army, the two units do not trust each other, and send sentries to each other at the junction of the defensive area, he is Zheng Dongguo and also sent the provisional 52nd Division to monitor the 60th Army, often playing small reports of the generals of the 60th Army, which is very contradictory to each other.

The officers and men of the two armies were besieged in the city for a long time, and there was a shortage of food, but at this time there was a situation of favoritism over the others; after entering August, the officers and men of the other units could only eat vegetable soup, while the officers and men of the new 38th Division could still get a few or two soybeans, and coupled with the small report on the 60th Army, their resentment deepened day by day.

In the case of desperation and deep resentment, Zeng Zesheng decided to lead the rebellion, but was investigated by the provisional 52nd Division and reported to Zheng Dongguo, but Zheng Dongguo believed that this was an exaggeration by the Provisional 52nd Division, and did not believe it, more importantly, the New 7th Army was taking care of itself at this time.

When the New 7th Army was preserving the combat effectiveness of the New 38th Division, it was repeatedly beaten back by the westward breakthrough, and the 60th Army sent a post at the junction of the two armies, and by October 17, it was too late for Zeng Zesheng to telegraph the uprising, so the 60th Army handed over half of Changchun to the People's Liberation Army.

After the uprising of the 60th Army, the rest of the troops fell into chaos, the division commander had the plan of the division commander, the regiment commander had the plan of the regimental commander, even the soldiers had their own plans, if not surrounded, such troops would have dispersed long ago, and finally the rest of the defenders declared their surrender, Changchun was peacefully liberated, in 1955, Zeng Zesheng was awarded the rank of lieutenant general and awarded the Liberation Medal of the First Class.
