2020 is the year of China's decisive victory in the battle against poverty, and the economic development has penetrated into every piece of land in the countryside. The second season of Discovery Media Group's original reality show Kung Fu Apprentice will follow 10 entrepreneurs from around the world to document their in-depth experiences in remote rural Areas of China.

From skilled Yunnan villagers to world-class Inner Mongolian horse trainers, runners will experience first-hand how innovation can be used to alleviate poverty and revitalize China's countryside in some seemingly impossible places.

Each week, these entrepreneurs learn from the innovations of the locals by participating in apprenticeship experiences designed specifically for them, and bring new contributions to the local area in combination with their own characteristics.

This group of young and enthusiastic young people not only have unlimited enthusiasm for exploration, but also have considerable business experience and brains, what kind of entrepreneurial inspiration will they be inspired by the new model of poverty alleviation in rural China?

In the Honghe Hani Rice Terraces in Yunnan, they will explore the local tourism poverty alleviation model and witness how the agricultural cultural heritage is "alive"; in the southern mountains of Ningxia, they will learn how the name of "the hometown of cold and cold vegetables in western China" came from; in Yizhang County, Hunan, they will experience the life of a "net red new farmer", turning their mobile phone into a "new agricultural tool", and live broadcasting into "new agricultural work"...

In each episode of the show, they will also compete in groups under the leadership of the host Wu Zhentian and the leader, going through multiple tests of interviews, in-depth experience and ultimate tasks, and finally decide the winning team, and one person will be eliminated in the losing team. The "Champion Apprentice" that will be finalized this season will also receive business plan support.

Ten international apprentices are from China, the United Kingdom, Italy, Brazil, India, Mexico, Afghanistan, the Philippines and other parts of the world.

Among them are elite apprentices with entrepreneurial experience: Ying Xuanran, a "genius scholar" from the United Kingdom who has his own beauty chain institution; Yu Wen, a Filipino girl who runs a bakery; a "living artist" who runs a bakery; Francico, a top chef from Italy; Wang Xihuachen, a post-90s Chinese Beijing girl with three British aviation schools; Peng Zengyi, a Chinese-Bangladesh mixed-race "overbearing president" who loves public welfare and likes fitness; Tan Hangyu, a boy next door to Macau who founded an educational technology company after studying abroad, and Dani, an international trade entrepreneur from Brazil who has lived in China for ten years.

There are also entrepreneurial newcomers with unlimited enthusiasm for exploration of China: social talents who have studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States and traveled to 88 countries and 17 provinces in China, Karolina from Mexico; Kamal, an Indian youth who participated in the China-India Youth Dialogue Forum; and the son of a simple, cute and stubborn diplomat, Al from Afghanistan.

Although they come from different countries and have different occupations and professional backgrounds, with in-depth experience and learning of the "kung fu" of poverty alleviation in rural China, they will jointly witness the achievements of China's well-off society construction in 2020.

Episode highlights, spoilers in advance

In the first episode, "Kung Fu Apprentices: A Walk to China," 10 aspiring entrepreneurs from around the world will gather at the breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Hani Rice Terraces in Yunnan, China. They met the host Wu Zhentian and started the first apprenticeship class.

In the skilled village of Argenko, the skilled village of Hani, the apprentices learned from industry master Samantha Hu about how the Azhiko Project used the tourism income distribution system to allow residents to maintain their traditional way of life and still allow the entire village to have enough income to lift itself out of poverty.
