According to the ukrinform website reported on August 31, the Ukrainian Madasic company has signed a large contract with the Ukrainian aircraft manufacturer Antonov Company to extend the service life of the D-18T turbofan engine.

Madasic signed an engine order with Antonov for $34 million

According to data published on proZorro's website, the contract was signed on August 25, 2021, with a contract value of about 920 million hryvnia (about $34 million).

To this end, Madasic will increase the service life of aircraft engines D-18T, D-18T Series 1, D-18T Series 3.

These engines serve as propulsion systems for the An-124-100 Ruslan and An-225 Mriya aircraft of civil aviation.

It may be that Antonov's airline currently has a lot of oversized cargo transport orders, so plans are to increase the aircraft engine life of its ultra-premium cargo aircraft to maximize the balance of operations.

It should be noted that the contract cost of increasing the service life of the D-18T engine is $264/hour. That is, for 920 million hryvnia, Antonov can get conditional 129,420 hours (about 15 years).

Antonov Airlines has 7 An-124-100 Ruslan transport aircraft and 1 An-225 Mriya aircraft in its fleet. As a result, in total, these aircraft are equipped with about 34 D-18T engines.

In addition, the "Antonov" has also begun to develop new aircraft, and is developing the Gorlitsa-2 Chada integrated UAV.
