However, to American politicians, this seems to give them an opportunity and a platform for anti-China performances – the view they want to impose on Europe and the United States is that the cause of the "decline of the West" is the rise of China. They thought that slandering and attacking China in this forum through European anxiety would resonate, and even if they could blow the rallying cry of besieging and containing China in this forum, it would be worth it.
In order to achieve this goal, American politicians can be described as desperate to perform. The US dignitaries attending the meeting include more than 20 senators led by House Speaker Pelosi, Secretary of State Pompeo, Defense Secretary Esper, Permanent Representative to the United Nations Kraft, former Secretary of State John Kerry, and many think tank scholars. During the meeting, there were American figures and voices everywhere. The "China threat" became their main argument, and preventing European countries from using Huawei's 5G technology became their practical purpose.
In Pompeo's speech, he criticized China one-third of the time; Esper accused China of implementing an "evil strategy" through Huawei; and pelosi even said that "compromise with China means harming democracy, human rights, economic independence and national security" when talking about 5G at the sub-forum, raising the issue to the height of institutional security. However, they have chosen to ignore and lose their voices when it comes to the public safety incident of the new crown pneumonia epidemic in China and the huge efforts china has made to fight the epidemic.

What made Americans even more breathless was that the voices of sympathy and support for China at the Mu'an meeting gradually increased, and the speeches of Chinese officials and scholars were affirmed by many participants. More and more people of insight in Europe realize that China's rise is unstoppable and an irreversible and lasting phenomenon, and Europe and even the West must strive to adapt and find a path of peaceful coexistence with China.
In addition to not being able to identify with the rudeness and rudeness of AMERICAN politicians, more Europeans have expressed dissatisfaction with the Trump administration's "America First" policy, believing that the protectionist, isolationist and unilateralist tendencies under the leadership of the US right have deviated from the basic ideas that underpin the liberal international order; criticized Trump for undermining the foundation of the transatlantic alliance and letting the two sides drift apart; and stressed that Europe must "form its own strategy" and advocate "going its own way".
The situation at this year's Mu'an conference shows that even in this forum, which has always been dominated by Europe and the United States, Americans can no longer force their prejudices and ideas to other countries, even European countries that they regard as "little brothers" and "little followers". On the contrary, the selfish and self-enriching policies of the United States are being resisted and opposed by more countries.
China has won sympathy and support not by pulling relations, still less by threatening others or imposing its own ideas on others, but by the code of conduct that China has followed in the international community and its contributions to the international community, and has won respect.
There is no harm without contrast. The United States deliberately smears and attacks China, but it can only sing a one-man show and cannot sound the rallying cry against China. China is committed to doing its own thing well, insisting on dealing with other countries in a fair and decent manner, and has increasingly accumulated popularity. This is "more help for the way, less help for the wrong way."
