The 129th Division of the Eighth Route Army was formed on August 25, 1937, by the combination of the Red 4th Front and the corps under the jurisdiction of the Red Army in northern Shaanxi. The division was initially established according to the system of the C division, with jurisdiction over 2 brigades, namely the 385 brigade and the 386 brigade, which is one of the three main divisions led by our party. Judging from the years, except for liu bocheng, the commander of the division, and Wang Weizhou, the deputy brigade commander of the 385th brigade, who were slightly older, the other generals were between the ages of 20 and 40, and the youngest commander was Chen Xilian, commander of the 769th Regiment, and Wang Jinshan, the prototype of Li Yunlong in "Bright Sword", and wang Jinshan, who was the deputy commander of the 772nd Regiment at the time, both of whom were 22 years old, which shows that the leading group of the division is a young and energetic team.

Judging from the situation of the award of titles in 1955, the regimental-level cadres of the 129th Division, which were established in early 1937, were all awarded the rank of major general or above when they were awarded the rank in 1955, except for those who were transferred to the local area and were not in the army system. Among them, there were 2 founding marshals, namely Liu Bocheng and Xu Xiangqian; 1 general, Chen Geng; 8 generals, li da, Song Renqian and other generals, and Wang Jinshan was awarded the rank of lieutenant general at this time. In addition, it is worth mentioning that the 4 cadres of the 386 Brigade Headquarters have all obtained the rank of general or above.
Judging from the distribution of places of origin, the 129th Division had the largest number of cadres from Hubei at the time of its initial establishment, with 12.
