180 years after the destruction of Wenchang Pagoda, in the 11th year of Qianlong, Qiyang, through the Jinshi Chen Dashou (official to prime minister), worried about the lack of humanities after Qiyang, took the lead in donating 1500 taels of Wenyin, and the whole county responded with donations to rebuild the Wenchang Pagoda on the wanzhang shuya on the bank of the Xiang River.
