Zuo Qi (1911.02.00--- 1998.08.26), a native of Quantang Village, Huaizhong Town, Yongxin, Jiangxi. In 1929, he joined the Communist Youth League of China, in 1932 he transferred to the Communist Party of China, and in the same year he joined the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, he successively served as the political instructor of the 49th Regiment Company of the 17th Division of the Red Sixth Army, the director of the Regiment Club, and the leader of the Propaganda Team of the Political Department of the Red Sixth Army, and participated in the Long March. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he successively served as the combat staff officer and chief of the reconnaissance section of the brigade headquarters of the 359th Brigade of the 120th Division of the Eighth Route Army, the chief of staff of the 717th Regiment, the political commissar of the Teaching Battalion, the chief of the Organization Department of the Brigade Political Department, the political commissar of the 718 regiment, and the political commissar of the Logistics Department of the Southbound Detachment. In December 1938, he was seriously wounded during a fierce battle. Dr. Bethune amputated him. During the Liberation War, he successively served as deputy political commissar, commander, political commissar and secretary of the prefectural party committee of the Fifth Military Subdistrict of the Jinsui Military Region, director of the political department of the 2nd Column of the Northwest Field Army, director of the political department of the 2nd Army of the First Field Army, and deputy political commissar and director of the political department of the 2nd Army. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he successively served as deputy political commissar and political commissar of the Xinjiang Southern Xinjiang Military Region, deputy political commissar and director of the political department of the Xinjiang Military Region, deputy political commissar of the Jinan Military Region, and adviser of the Jinan Military Region. In 1955, he was awarded the rank of major general, the Order of August 1, 2nd Class, the Order of Independence and Freedom, 2nd Class, and the Liberation Medal, 1st Class. In 1988, he was awarded the Medal of Merit of the Red Star, First Class.
