The cultivation history and myths and legends of Shenzhou peach
Shenzhou peach is an excellent variety selected and bred by peach farmers in Shenxian County after thousands of years of cultivation. As for the origin of the variety, the process of breeding is no longer elaborate.
However, there are many myths and stories circulating in the folk: it is said that in the depths of the peach garden in the west of the present-day Shenzhou City, there used to be a peach farmer, the mother and son were dependent on each other, and the son was called Tao'er, who was eighteen years old, industrious and simple, skillful, and loyal. It operates a peach orchard with strong trees, lush foliage and fruit. The fairy celebrates the birthday of the queen mother, comes to the human world to pick peaches here, gets to know the peach, and over time, the fairy has a love for the peach and marries. The Jade Emperor knew that he had ordered the Heavenly Soldier Heavenly General to capture the fairy. Loving the husband and wife, it was difficult to leave, so they said the truth to Tao'er, and Tao'er wept incessantly, and in order to comfort her husband, the fairy folded her hands, chanted spells, and rustled in the air, and a peach core fell in her hand, and said to her husband: "After I leave, you bury this seed in the soil, and it will grow a beautiful fruit like me, and when you think of me, look at this peach tree." Since then, this seed, reproducing offspring, has taken root in the land of Shenzhou, and the fruit has produced brilliant colors and sweet as honey, which was later called Shenzhou peach.
Folk also have the legend of Han Guangwu Liu Xiu who went to the Peach Orchard in Shenzhou: the Western Han Dynasty King Mang usurped the throne, the world was in chaos, Liu Xiu left the country, came to the territory of Shenzhou, his mouth was dry and hungry, exhausted, just in time for the old man who guarded the peach to send him peaches to fill his hunger, Liu Xiu thanked the old man, while eating and praising, saying that the peach in Shenzhou was sweeter than honey. A few peaches went down their stomachs, as if they had been in drought for a long time, and they suddenly felt full of strength and got rid of the pursuing soldiers behind.
Of course, the legend is unreliable, but it can be passed down to this day, indicating that Shenzhou peach has a long history of cultivation.
