In the quiet city of Jingyang (present-day Jingyang, Shaanxi), the night is hazy, and everything seems comfortable and peaceful.

The whole city fell asleep, only the general's mansion was still brightly lit, and there was a faint sound of controversy in his face. An old man in the palace who was nearly old suddenly turned over and said to the generals, "Don't argue, let me go myself." Speaking was the Tang general Guo Ziyi. At this time, he was discussing with the generals whether to respond to the request of the Uighurs, and he personally went to talk to the Hui leaders about the coalition forces against the Tubo rebellion. It all starts with a rebellion.

In 765, the deputy marshal of Hebei, Gu Huai'en, thought that he had made great merits, and the imperial court had failed him, so he instigated Hui And Tubo to raise troops to rebel against the Tang Dynasty. As soon as the hui and Tubo armies reached Jingyang, north of Chang'an, the imperial court was greatly shaken. After consultation, the only way to fight the rebellion was to rely on the veteran general Guo Ziyi.

The enemy was outnumbered, and Guo Ziyi ordered his subordinates to strictly defend and not to fight. At this time, Guo Ziyi also received information that the servant Gu Huai'en had died of a violent illness on the way to the army, and the two sides of Hui and Tubo were separated from Germany, and they were quarreling endlessly for the leader.

The two armies lived in separate camps, and the Uighurs were stationed in the west of the city.

This was really great news, and Guo Ziyi hurriedly sent Li Guangyi and others to the Huiyi military camp to persuade Huiyi and Guo Ziyi to unite and jointly fight against Tubo.

However, when the servant Gu Huai'en coaxed Hui Hui to send troops, he once spread rumors that the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty was dead and Guo Ziyi was also killed.

The Hui people thought that Guo Ziyi was dead, so they were willing to send troops to help the servant Gu Huai'en, and now some people even said that he was still alive. Therefore, the hui leader made a request to see Guo Ziyi.

The soldiers feared that this was the enemy's ruse and tried every means to obstruct it. However, Guo Ziyi was determined to personally meet with the Hui leader, and the generals had to agree, and selected 500 cavalry as escorts. But Guo Ziyi shook his head and said, "I went to convince people with reason, and it is harmful and useless for you to do so." ”

Before leaving, Guo Ziyi's son grabbed the reins of his horse and said, "They are tigers and wolves, father you are the marshal of the Tang Dynasty, how can you send your flesh and blood to the mouth of the tiger and wolf?" ”

Guo Ziyi said: "Judging from today's situation, if the two sides fight, it will be detrimental to the country. If I talk to them, maybe they can agree to withdraw their troops, or even join hands to drive out Tibet, that is a blessing for the country. After saying that, Guo Ziyi opened the city with several cavalrymen.

Before coming to the Huiyi camp, Guo Ziyi ordered people to report to the Huiyi army. The Hui soldiers were horrified, and their commander was named Yao Geluo. He took the bow and the arrow, and stood in front of the line in the form of a ready shot. Only to see Guo Ziyi take off his helmet, take off his battle robe, and walk alone towards the front of the Hui Army.

The hui chiefs saw each other and greeted each other, saying, "It's really Guo Lao Linggong!" So they jumped off their horses and saluted around Guo Ziyi. Guo Ziyi also jumped off his horse and walked forward to hold Yao Geluo's hand.

After a moment of greeting between the two sides, Guo Ziyi said unceremoniously: "You hui hui have made contributions to Datang, and Datang's reward for you is not thin." Why are you violating the covenant and harassing us? Servant Gu Huai'en betrayed Datang and abandoned his own old mother, this kind of behavior even you Hui Hui can't tolerate! Even if I am caught and killed by you today, my men will fight you to the death. ”

Yao Ge Luo quickly replied, "Servant Gu Huai'en deceived us, saying that the Emperor of the Tang Dynasty was dead and that you were no longer there, so we dared to come with him." Now we know what to do. ”

Guo Ziyi took the opportunity to explain to them: "Tubo is unreasonable, and they took advantage of the difficulties of our Tang Dynasty to invade our border areas and burn the city and plunder them, regardless of the fact that there are nephews and uncles between the two countries. If Datang and Hui hui join forces to defeat Tubo, then what they have robbed is yours. ”

Yao GeLuo said, "Now we have to do our part for you, defeat Tubo to thank you and make up for our mistakes." However, the son of the servant Huai'en is my brother-in-law of huiqi khan, and I hope to forgive him and not kill him. Guo Ziyi agreed. Yao GeLuo asked Guo Ziyi to take the wine as an oath first, and Guo Ziyi sprinkled the wine on the ground and made a peace treaty. Tubo heard the news and fled that night.

Guo Ziyi spent his life and repeatedly built up qigong, until he was 84 years old before bidding farewell to the battlefield. Throughout the Tang Dynasty, Guo Ziyi enjoyed a high prestige and reputation.
