To improve the overall level of amateur table tennis coaches, Shanghai held a B-level assessment training course for the first time

The Shanghai Amateur Table Tennis Coach Assessment and Training (Grade B) class, jointly sponsored by the Shanghai Table Tennis Association and the China Table Tennis Academy, was officially opened last week.

As an integral part of the systematic training, 67 C-level amateur table tennis coaches from social table tennis schools, clubs and other institutions in various districts of the city signed up for the training. Through 20 hours of training and assessment, the training course will produce the first batch of registered coaches of the Shanghai Table Tennis Association who hold b-level qualification certificates in Shanghai, thus delivering backbone strength to the city's amateur table tennis training market after the "double reduction" policy is implemented.

In order to improve the overall level of amateur table tennis coaches in the city, standardize the social amateur table tennis coach training market, and promote the healthy and orderly vocational training of amateur table tennis coaches, the Municipal Table Tennis Association and the China Table Tennis Institute have held three sessions of the city's amateur table tennis coach assessment and training (C level) classes in June, December and October 2020, and a total of 196 trainees have obtained C-level amateur table tennis coach qualification certificates after rigorous assessment training. These certified coaches have been generally welcomed in the field of amateur table tennis training in the city, and have played an exemplary and leading role in the assessment and training of amateur table tennis coaches in other provinces and cities across the country.

With the implementation of the "double reduction" policy of education, the demand for amateur table tennis coaches in society has increased rapidly, and higher requirements have been put forward for the assessment and training of amateur table tennis coaches. In order to further meet the needs of the society and also to provide a rising channel for amateur table tennis coaches holding C-level certificates, the Municipal Table Tennis Association and the China Table Tennis Academy decided to jointly hold the first B-class class on the basis of the successful holding of three C-level classes. Chen Yiping, chairman of the Municipal Table Tennis Association, attaches great importance to the class, and has repeatedly convened relevant meetings to study and implement relevant work, and put forward the requirements of "expanding the depth of teaching, increasing the degree of practice, and improving the difficulty of assessment". In accordance with this requirement, the China Table Tennis Academy sent a number of professor-level teachers and state-level coaches to carefully compile the teaching materials, and completed the scientific and applicable teaching materials on the basis of listening to the opinions of experts many times.

It is reported that when the two-year validity period of the remaining C-level table tennis amateur coaches expires, the Municipal Table Tennis Association and the China Table Tennis Academy will also jointly hold a certificate renewal training. At the same time, the C-level assessment training course for amateur table tennis coaches in the city will be held again at a time to meet the needs of the society for amateur table tennis coaches. Chen Yiping said that he hopes that through such assessment and training, a good atmosphere of "no training, no license and no coaching" will be truly formed in the city's amateur table tennis industry.
