In April 2021, Toutiao Tracing partnered with the Bureau of Veterans' Affairs of Jingyan County, Leshan City, Sichuan Province, to help 69 martyrs buried in the Leshan Bamboo Garden Martyrs' Memorial Park find their relatives. The 69 martyrs all died in the battle of Zhuyuanpu, the first battle of the 1949 Battle of Chengdu, and the cemetery has not yet established contact with their loved ones.

Information on the relatives of martyrs is now collected from the whole society, and the relatives of these 69 martyrs are jointly searched for.

This time, we will search for the relatives of the following martyrs:

Martyr's name: Chen Hengyou

Martyr's place of origin: Donghai County, Jiangsu Province (affiliated to Lianyungang City)

Date of birth: December 13, 1949, 1920

Service unit: 2nd Company, 83rd Regiment, 28th Division, 10th Army of the People's Liberation Army

Sacrifice: Killed in the Battle of Zhuyuanpu on December 13, 1949

In early December 1949, the People's Liberation Army conquered Chongqing, and under the command of Liu Bocheng and Deng Xiaoping, hundreds of thousands of strong troops took advantage of the situation to approach the Western Sichuan Plain from the east, south and north. Hu Zongnan learned that Erye would launch the Battle of Chengdu, and urgently ordered his 31st Division to enter the Zhuyuanpu area on the east bank of the Min River on December 9, in an attempt to plant "nails" in the road that our army had to pass, to block the People's Liberation Army, and to buy time to lay out the Minjiang defense line and cover its remnants to escape to Xichang and Yunnan.

On December 13, 1949, the Battle of Zhuyuanpu began. This fierce battle lasted for 18 hours, and the People's Liberation Army completely annihilated more than 3,300 defenders known as the "first regiment under the heavens", captured all weapons and equipment, and won the first victory in the Chengdu Campaign.

The Battle of Zhuyuanpu fired the "first shot" of the Chengdu Campaign, cleared the way for the People's Liberation Army to directly pound the Chengdu Plain, and made immortal contributions to the liberation of Sichuan and the complete liberation of the whole country.

A total of 90 people were killed in this battle. Of the 90 martyrs who died in the first battle of the Chengdu Campaign, 15 were buried in the Rongxian Martyrs' Cemetery, 3 were buried in the Zigong Martyrs' Cemetery, and 3 were relocated to their hometowns by the families of the martyrs.

In order to commemorate the revolutionary martyrs who died heroically in the first battle of Zhuyuanpu in the First Battle of Chengdu in 1949, the Jingyan County Party Committee and the county government built the Zhuyuan Martyrs' Cemetery in Zhuyuan Town, and buried a total of 69 revolutionary loyal bones who died in the Battle of Zhuyuanpu.
