Zhang Ruitu was one of the most creative calligraphers of the late Ming Dynasty, and became known for his proficiency in books at a young age. Shiren referred to Xing Tong, Zhang Ruitu, Mi Wanzhong, and Dong Qichang as the "Four Great Masters of Good Books" in the late Ming Dynasty. Good at painting landscapes, especially gongshu, known for his "Vajra pestle" brushwork. The mountains and rivers are vigorous, the dots are dyed and easy, and the Buddha statues are interspersed, which is interesting.
