In late February 1937, Xuanxia's father arrived in Xi'an with a telegram from Zhou Enlai and Ye Jianying to "come to Xi'an quickly". After the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he assisted Zhou Enlai in carrying out the work of the anti-Japanese national united front in the name of the senior senator of the Eighteenth Group Army, became acquainted with che Xiangchen, Ma Dehan, and other leaders of various anti-Japanese salvation groups in Xi'an, worked out struggle strategies with them, and mobilized the masses to resist Japan and save the dead; met with Yang Mingxuan, Du Bincheng, and other social celebrities to discuss with them the ways of governing and discussing the future of salvation; and went to the residences of Hu Zongnan, Jiang Dingwen, and other military and political leaders of the Kuomintang Xi'an authorities, and shared with them the feelings of fellow villagers and windows, looking for opportunities for the united front. Father Xuanxia's fruitful work has effectively promoted the anti-Japanese salvation movement in Xi'an and become a prominent figure active in Xi'an's party, government, and military circles.

Xuanxia's father was knowledgeable, experienced, cheerful, willing to talk with patriotic young people, and was regarded as a good teacher and friend by patriotic youth. As early as 1926, Feng Yuxiang took the oath of wuyuan and won the victory of Xi'an against the siege. In order to solve the problem of the shortage of political staff, Xuanxia's father, who was in charge of political work in Feng Yuxiang's department, held a political training class at Xianlin Middle School in HuaXian County in December, during which he met Zhang Zhizhi, Gao Lanxi and others. Many years later, Zhang Zhi recalled with deep affection: "Mr. Chi Father was extraordinary and amiable, his speech was extremely encouraging, the revolutionary principles were in-depth and simple, and the audience of teachers and students in Xianzhong were all impressed. In my mind, Mr. Chi Father is a rare mentor, a hero of reality... A large number of young students at Xianlin Middle School have become followers of Xuanxia's father, and he is always surrounded by a group of flesh-and-blood Xinxin students." In 1937, when Xuanxia's father came to Xi'an to carry out united front work, Zhang Zhizhi, then director of the Xijing Library in Shaanxi Province, greeted the arrival of this mentor and friend with great excitement, and participated in many forums and reports on the issue of the War of Resistance organized by Xuanxia's father. In February 1938, Xuanxia's father moved from No. 3 Xinmin Lane to No. 5 Civilian Square, and was in the same courtyard as the Northwest Youth National Salvation Federation, the "Minxian" Northwest Detachment Headquarters and the "Youth Front" Society, which created excellent conditions for him to guide the youth movement in a timely manner. The main responsible persons of the youth rescue organization, such as Feng Wenbin, Hu Qiaomu, Huang Hua, Lu Ping, Li Chang, Jiang Nanxiang, Yan Youmin, and Li Lianbi, came and went, often living in No. 5 Civilian Square.

In 1937, Xuanxia's father inscribed a poem for Gao Lanxi (broken and missing). Father Xuanxia also used his legal status to do his best to protect the cadres of the Youth Salvation Organization. In May 1938, the Xi'an authorities ordered the dissolution of 13 anti-Japanese salvation groups, and at the same time demanded that the "Western War Regiment" leave Xi'an within a time limit. Xuanxia's father actively advised the "Western War Regiment" and made him insist on fighting in Xi'an for another 3 months. In late June 1938, the heads of progressive youth groups in Xi'an held a meeting at No. 5 Civilian Square, and were searched by secret agents to arrest Li Chang, the commander of the Minxian Corps. Xuanxia's father told Li Chang to hide in bed and put down the mosquito net. When the agent broke in, Xuanxia's father was calm and composed, and if nothing happened, he circled around for a while and then took the agent away. In addition, Xuanxia's father also introduced a large number of patriotic young people to Yan'an to participate in the revolution, and Chen Muhua was one of them.

In 1938, Xuanxia's father watched a performance by the Northwest Field Service Corps at the Eighth Route Army's office in Shaanxi

Xuanxia's father won the appreciation of the upper echelons of the Kuomintang with his extraordinary courage and outstanding talent, and Hu Zongnan instigated Xuanxia's father to assist him in ruling the army, and promised to be a high-ranking official, Houlu, but Xuanxia's father sternly refused. At the same time, the Kuomintang secret service deliberately plotted to get rid of Xuanxia's father. For the safety of Xuanxia's father, the party organization asked him to move from No. 5 Civilian Square to Qixianzhuang. On July 30, 1938, the organization decided that Xuanxia's father would return to Yan'an with Lin Boqu. Considering the complicated situation in Xi'an, Xuanxia's father decided to stay and deal with this situation. The next afternoon, Xuanxia's father was secretly kidnapped and killed by Kuomintang agents. After Xuanxia's father disappeared, Zhou Enlai asked Chiang Kai-shek three times to trace his whereabouts, forcing Chiang Kai-shek to admit: "Xuanxia's father was my student, he betrayed me, and I ordered him to be killed."

Xuanxia's father spent his life searching for the revolution up and down, and the steel would rather be folded than a hook. As early as the period of the First Civil Revolutionary War, in view of the current situation that "the Chinese nation is poor and is trampled on by iron hooves", Xuanxia's father shouted that "only by working together to revolution, a way of life is in front of people." He reminded all revolutionaries that "freedom must be fought with blood." The hero has passed away, the mighty spirit lives on, remember the martyrs, and continue to move forward!
