During the Liberation War, the YMCA was an important intelligence stronghold and underground transportation station under the leadership of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, providing strong support for the liberation of Fuzhou.
In 1947, the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China set up an underground secret traffic station in Room 401 of the Youth Association Hostel, and set up a special branch, and Sun Daohua, then secretary of the Fuzhou Municipal Party Committee, concurrently served as the secretary of the special branch, and the members of the branch were Fu Sunhuan, Chen Wenlong, Cai Long and others.
Cai Longtong, an underground member of the Communist Party of China, used his status as a commissioner of the US Information Service stationed in Rong to cover up senior party cadres, contact other members of the special branch, support the various activities of the provincial party committee in Fuzhou, and at the same time obtain enemy secrets, thus making great contributions to the party's underground work.
At the same time, as an important underground transportation station, Zeng Jingbing, secretary of the party committee of The Ganqu District of Fujian, Zhejiang, and Xie Xiaodi, head of the Fujian Department of the Social Department of the CPC Central Committee, and others lived in the Youth Association when they came to Fuzhou.
