The year 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the 100th anniversary of kunqu opera artists, and the 20th anniversary of Kunqu opera being included in the first batch of "Masterpieces of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Mankind" by UNESCO.

The Kunqu Opera Transmission Institute has a very special historical significance in the century-long history of Kunqu Opera. In the autumn of 1921, the Kunqu Opera Transmission Institute was established in Suzhou, and the kunqu art had been inherited and relayed, and the students of the Kunqu opera generation had become the mainstay of the Kunqu opera stage in the late 20th century to the present. This exhibition runs through the whole process with a "chuan" character, which is divided into five parts: "Legend of Water Mill", "Fangxin Transmission", "Yayun Passing Salary", "Hongyu Chuanyi" and "Huilan Inheritance", which respectively introduce the history of Kunqu opera chuanzi from art, performance and teaching.

At the opening ceremony, Xia Ping, director of the Shanghai Art Research Center, said: "We solemnly launched this exhibition, one is to commemorate these 44 teachers of the Chuanzi generation, so that more people can understand that without the chuanzi teachers, there would be no Kunqu opera today; second, through the exhibition of the history of the Chuanzi generation, it is not easy to tell people that Kunqu opera can come to this day; third, through the collection of materials on the history of the Chuanzi generations, so that the Kunqu opera art can be better protected and inherited, so that the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation will never end, and the torch will be passed on forever!" ”

Chang Gu of shanghai Kunqu Opera Troupe said: "The younger generation of Kunqu opera people will uphold the spirit of the previous generation of artists, take over the baton of inheritance, and strive to promote the integrity and innovation of Kunqu art in the new era, so that Kunqu art will be sung from generation to generation." ”

The exhibition hall exhibits kunqu music scores, manuscripts of famous artists, costumes, musical instruments and performance instructions, audio and video, photos and other precious art archives, hooking the artistic experience of the generations. In addition, the 44 chairs in the exhibition hall symbolize the 44 students of the Institute. Seated spectators pick up the cushions of the "Chuan" character on the seats, they can read the life of each chuanzi artist.

At the scene, you can also see shen Yuequan's personally copied music fold "Fox Thought", and the flute used by Zhu Chuanming and Hua Chuanhao. Kunda class artist Zhang Xunpeng said of the flute of the mentor Zhu Chuanming with reverence: "Teacher Zhu Chuanming's flute is like a divine flute, it follows the teacher's south and north performances, creating brilliant achievements. In 1960, in the Kunqu opera movie "Dream in the Garden" starring Mei Lanfang and Yu Zhenfei, the teacher used this flute to play! According to Mr. Tu Yongheng's recollection: "When I was teaching in the drama school without a flute, Teacher Hua Chuanhao gave me his flute. I have been teaching drama in the drama school for 60 years, and I have played this flute and taught a group of students. ”

It is reported that during the exhibition period, the small stage in the exhibition hall has been arranged for three consecutive weeks every Thursday to 7:00 pm from June 17, and the exhibition series of activities such as artist lectures, guided tours, and on-site teaching will be arranged from time to time, and the exhibition will last until July 19.
