Ruili, a small border town with a border line stretching for nearly 170 kilometers, is located in the southwest of Yunnan Province, bordering Myanmar on three sides, and is both China's largest inland trade port to Myanmar and the port with the largest inbound passenger traffic.
Since September last year, there have been five consecutive outbreaks in this small city of less than 1,000 square kilometers, and the city has been locked down for four times so far. Public officials are either preventing the epidemic or guarding the border.

A staff member of the Ruili Citizen Call Center responded that for those who return to China and surrender themselves, the relevant departments will first review their information, and then the public security will dock, and the transfer and isolation team will arrange for ambulances to be picked up uniformly, not to let them return to China freely.
The four lockdowns were suspended for 7 months
Ruili's first wave of the epidemic this year began on March 29, which caused hundreds of infections, and Ruili was locked down for 26 days from March 30.
Not long after the unsealing, on July 4, the new crown virus broke out again, and the whole city was quarantined at home. Then, with the emergence of new local confirmed cases one after another, the quarantine period continued to lengthen until August 17, when Ruili regained the freedom to move around the city.
"It is said that the seal has been lifted, but in fact, factories and service stores are still closed, and restaurants cannot dine in." Xu Yang, a local public official, said in an interview with the media.
He is still working normally, but his life at two o'clock and one line seems to have been spinning around in the same place. According to him, he went out at 8:30 every morning and scanned the code every other day to do a nucleic acid test in the community, "I have done it thirty or forty times." "Being a nucleic acid is part of life."
Local residents have recorded 25 nucleic acid tests.
Jade used to be Ruili's business card. The data shows that the transaction volume of Ruili jewelry and jadeite live broadcast industry exceeded 10 billion yuan in 2019. As of May 2020, more than 60,000 practitioners have been engaged in live broadcasting of the jewelry and jadeite industry in Ruili.
Immigrants, who make up nearly half of the resident population, support almost half of the small city. On April 1 this year, Ruili issued the Notice on Temporarily Shutting Down the Jewelry Trading Market and Jadeite Internet Live BroadcastIng Business Activities, requiring the jewelry trading market, live broadcast bases and jadeite Internet live broadcast operators within the jurisdiction of the city to suspend all online and offline business activities.

With the closure of the jewelry trading market and the jadeite Internet live broadcast, the jewelers from all over the world that Ruili once gathered have dragged their families away. According to media reports, the number of permanent residents in the border cities that used to be bustling and prosperous has dropped sharply.
