Huangcheng Xiangfu, located in Beiliu Town, Yangcheng County, Jincheng City, Shanxi Province, is the former residence of Chen Tingjing, a scholar and official of Wenyuange University in the Qing Dynasty, the chief reader of the Kangxi Dictionary, and the lecturer of the 35th year feast of the Kangxi Emperor, and is praised by experts as "the residence of the first cultural giant in northern China".

Visiting the Imperial City of Xiangfu, I think the most worthy of appreciation is the "Chinese Dictionary Museum", the Chinese Dictionary Museum is located in the earliest courtyard of Xiangfu - ShideYuan, which was established on May 25, 2007, and is the first thematic museum with dictionary as the theme in China. With the Kangxi Dictionary as the core, the museum presents the history of the development and evolution of Chinese character book culture. The museum has more than 20,000 books, which is composed of two parts: the exhibition of the history of the development of Chinese dictionaries and the collection of dictionaries.

In the 49th year of the Kangxi Dynasty, chen Tingjing, a 72-year-old scholar and official of the Qingwenyuange University and the official Shangshu Chen Tingjing, deeply felt that his old age and physical fitness had declined, and he repeatedly proposed to the Kangxi Emperor to resign and return to his hometown to spend his old age, but he was politely refused by the Kangxi Emperor. In November of that year, he again resigned due to ear failure, and finally received grace, but the Kangxi Emperor ordered him to be dismissed from his former post and the editor of the Kangxi Dictionary. For this large-scale calligraphy, Chen Tingjing disregarded his old age and illness, worked hard and bowed to exhaustion. On February 22 of the following year, the Kangxi Emperor inspected the study, and he was deeply moved when he saw Chen Tingjing, a white-haired old man, sitting meticulously reviewing the dictionary among a group of black-haired people.
The Kangxi Dictionary was written in the 55th year of the Kangxi Dynasty (1716) and lasted for six years, including 470035 Chinese characters, which is one of the main references for the study of Chinese characters.
The Kangxi Dictionary is the first book in Chinese history to be named "dictionary" and the first official dictionary in Chinese history. It can be seen how much effort Chen Tingjing has made to the Kangxi Dictionary and how much contribution he has made.
The paper surface of the Kangxi Dictionary has been yellowed and blackened, and if you turn the page with your finger, it is very likely to cause the page to break, and you can only use professional tools when flipping it. The side of each volume of the dictionary is marked with some headings. According to reports, this is later users for convenience, their own pen annotation.
At present, the number of various editions of the Kangxi Dictionary collected by the Chinese Dictionary Museum has reached 128. Chinese characters are the treasures of the Han people's culture for thousands of years, but also our lifelong mentors and friends, everyone's spiritual home, the dictionary provides phonology, meaning explanation, example sentences, usage, etc. For words, the West does not have the concept of a dictionary, it is unique to China. In the Chinese Dictionary Museum, you can not only understand the emergence and development of Chinese dictionary culture, but also create a good learning and communication platform for Chinese characters, dictionary enthusiasts, collectors and researchers.
The Chinese Dictionary Museum is located in the former residence of Chen Tingjing, the former residence of Chen Tingjing, the organizer of the compilation of the Kangxi Dictionary and the teacher of the Kangxi Emperor of the Qing Dynasty.
