According to a source published on the website of Mexico's National Administration of Cultural Heritage, experts from the underwater archaeology department of the General Administration said: "There is a cave five meters deep, and a log was found there. Inspection revealed symmetrical incisions that held a tight lid indicating that it was a canoe. ”

Scholars believe that the canoe is 1.6 meters long, 0.8 meters wide and 0.4 meters high, and can be used to draw water from limestone caves or preserve sacrificial offerings.

Archaeologists said: "This is the first intact canoe found from Mayan territory. ”

Experts plan to conduct new research in November to accurately identify the age of canoes and the types of wood used.
