Cook LGBT Youth Festival speech: Young people must dare to live their true selves

DoNews, July 31 (Reporter Zhao Jinjie) Recently, Apple CEO Tim Cook delivered a speech at the LoveLoud Music Festival to encourage gay young people to love life better.

The LoveLoud Festival is a public welfare event organized by Imagine Dragons leader Dan Reynolds for LGBT (short for lesbian, transgender and bisexual) youth. Cook attended the festival on Saturday alongside showbiz artists such as Taylor Glenn, where he confronted the suffering of these young people who were seen as outliers.

At The Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Cook told a crowd of 30,000, "Tonight I stand before you as an uncle, a sports fan, a Utah outdoor enthusiast, and a proud Homosexual American." I have come here just to tell you that I want every LGBTQ (LGBT plus queer) person to hear and believe that you are a gift to the world, a unique and special gift to the world in your own way. Your lives are important, and I say to you, to find your truth, to speak your truth, to live your truth. ”

Cook said: "My heart breaks when I see young people struggling to get society and their families to accept them. Let me tell you that normal is just the worst word people have ever coined. You shouldn't be all the same, feel the same, or think the same, you're not wrong. (End)
