Feel the city and countryside of the leap earth in Xi'an - written on the 100th anniversary of the publication of Mr. Lu Xun's "Hometown"

Text | Red Child

In late May, he went to Xi'an to heal his stubborn disease. According to Mengyou, he stayed in a fast hotel named "Hometown Runtu" on Changyi East Road. At first glance at the name of the store, I immediately thought of Mr. Lu Xun's novel "Hometown" and the character "LeapIng Earth" in the work, but the "Running Earth" in the name of this hotel is three points more than the "LeapIng Earth" in the novel. I think this is probably the boss's meticulousness and wisdom.

However, this cannot be said that the boss has to reluctantly take Mr. Lu Xun's "Hometown" car. People who are familiar with Mr. Lu Xun's literary experience know that Mr. Lu Xun and Xi'an did have an indissoluble relationship. On July 21, 1924, Mr. Lu Xun was invited by Fu Tong, then president of Northwest University, to give a lecture at the university for 10 days (including a lecture to the Wu tang), and his lecture content was mainly "The Historical Changes of the Chinese Novel", which was later included in his book "Outline of the History of Chinese Novels". In addition to his lectures in Xi'an, he often patronized the Nanyuan Gate, the Forest of Steles, the Great Wild Goose Pagoda, qujiang, and the Jianfu Temple, so that many Xi'an citizens began to know that there was an old man surnamed Zhou from Beijing in this ancient city. Of course, mr. Li still likes to watch Qin Lu in Xi'an, and has watched 5 plays in the Yi Folk Society alone. It is not difficult to understand why Mr. Yi wrote a plaque of "Ancient Tune Solo Bomb" to the Yi Folk Society later, and gave 50 pieces of ocean. Obviously, Mr. Mei Lanfang was lucky to have a good time in Xi'an, and he was also pampered, otherwise, he would not like Mr. Mei Lanfang's Peking Opera singing endlessly like in Beijing.

Mr. Lu Xun has never written a long novel in his life, and it should be said that this is Mr. Lu Xun's regret and the regret of Chinese literature. What is interesting is that when Mr. Lu Xun was in Xi'an, perhaps at some point, he re-traveled through history, returned to the Han and Tang Dynasties, and talked to those historical figures about wine. Mr. Lu Xun is the king of novels, and he knows all too well what kind of characters to choose to fully display his creative talents. Mr. Yang Guifei naturally chose Yang Guifei. However, this idea was also in the belly of the gentleman for three or four years and then ran aground. In the creative environment at that time, Xi'an "couldn't imagine that even the sky was not like the sky of the Tang Dynasty" in Mr. Xi'an's eyes.

We can't ask Mr. Lu Xun to write classic works for Xi'an, but the people of Xi'an and Shaanxi have always kept Mr. Lu In mind. Cao Gaosheng, the general manager of the Runtu Hotel in my hometown where I live, is a true Lu fan. He was born in 1968 in a remote village called Cheng Cao Village on the outskirts of Weinan Province, and he is my age and has a similar experience. He said that the six brothers and sisters in their family are all farmers who are responsible for their duties, and they return to the village to work as soon as they graduate from high school. In the 1980s, the countryside of Weinan was still very poor, and whenever the night was quiet, he would lie in the watermelon field and look at the sky and count the stars, and he repeatedly pondered, If I continue like this, I will not change anymore, maybe it is Lu Xun's leaping earth, Lu Yao's Gao Garin. Although Gaugarin entered the city, he was eventually driven back by the city due to his own speculation and worldliness. This is not only a contradiction between people, but also a confrontation between the city and the countryside. And to truly change himself, or to change the fate of his family's hometown, he must choose to go to the city. It seems that only when he enters the city will he say goodbye to the life of the leap earth.

Cao Gaosheng thought of his uncle in Xi'an. He wrote to his uncle, hoping that he would find him a job in the city, preferably a contract worker. That year, my brothers and sisters were getting older and getting married one after another, putting unimaginable pressure on my parents, who were farmers. After receiving a reply from his uncle, Cao Gaosheng resolutely bid farewell to his parents and he was going to go to the city. Hearing that Sanwa was going to enter the city, his mother cried, saying don't look at the big man of liwa who is one meter and nine meters, but she is still a baby after all, she has never been out since she was a child, if she is bullied by the people in the city, what can she do? Cao Gaosheng said with tears in his eyes, Mom, you and I are very relieved, Sanwa will never come back to see you if she does not mix up.

In the first days of entering the city, Cao Gaosheng worked seriously entirely by his own physical strength, he did not have the scheming of the people in the city, and he had a relationship with a certain leader of a certain interest group, but after a long time, he was regarded as a thorn in his eye. As a result, one evening, he was beaten up by several co-workers. At that moment, he felt very scared and inferior, worse than Yan Tu shouting in front of Lu Xun, and more miserable than Kong Yiji dragging his stump leg and drinking on credit. That night, he saw that the stars in the sky were terrible, and how much he wanted to pour out in front of his mother about the pain of the grievance. However, his stubborn character tells him that he must be like Lu Yao said, no one in this world can bring himself down unless he is knocked down by himself.

Cao Gaosheng resigned, and he chose to go it alone, raising money to build a food factory, engage in real estate, and build a hotel. In the second-floor restaurant of the Hometown Runtu Hotel, Cao Gaosheng and I drank wine and listened to him tell his entrepreneurial story. I asked him, you have been in the city for 34 years since you came into town in 1987, do you think you are a successful person? Cao Gaosheng said that everyone's understanding of success is different, compared to the beginning, I am like a leap earth, every day in the field to see watermelon, now have their own company hotel, feed hundreds of people, this is definitely a kind of success. But this success is only based on the general sense, that is, people say that the problem of food and clothing has been solved. But for a company to achieve greater success, it is not enough to sweat hard, but also to have its own culture. I asked, did you name the hotel Hometown Runtu be influenced by Lu Xun's novel "Hometown"? Cao Gaosheng said that he has always had the dream of going to college since he was a child, and for various reasons, he only went to high school and returned to the village to work as a farmer. During his school days, the most he read in textbooks was Lu Xun's works. What impressed him the most was Mr. Mister's prose novel "Hometown". The novel was written in January 1921, exactly 100 years after its publication. For a long time, he felt that he was the "tall boy with a silver hoop and a steel fork in his hand."

Looking at Cao Gaosheng's slightly drunken face with a little pride, I guess, is this Lu Xun's leap soil? I don't think he is. The sober brain told me that the old leaping earth is gone, and today's leaping earth has not only left the yellow land and come to the big city, but also went out of the country. Cao Gaosheng said that a few years ago, he once went to Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Europe, Africa more than a dozen countries to investigate, he wanted to make the "hometown of the soil" into a chain, he understands that there are countless leaping soil abroad are hoping to return to their hometown, eat the taste of childhood.

One day, Cao Gaosheng knew that I was going to visit Mr. Xiao Yunru's house, so he asked if he could bring him with him. I said, of course it's good. Cao Gaosheng also said that his daughter will soon graduate with a doctorate, and she has always been eager to see Mr. Xiao. I said, okay, let's come together. Halfway through, I called mr. Xiao and told him that when I arrived at the mansion in a moment, not only did I go, but I also brought Shaanxi's "Yan Tu" and his doctoral daughter with me. Mr. Xiao was stunned at first, and then immediately laughed and said, Red Child, you have grasped this detail well, and You can write a good prose.

I haven't felt like I've been living in Xi'an for more than a month. On the days when I often had small gatherings with Cao Gaosheng, I often felt that he had an indescribable hidden pain. I asked him, your career has been accomplished, do you have anything to worry about? Cao Gaosheng said that he was not worried about anything now, he had two fears. One is afraid to look at the stars at night, as soon as he sees the stars, he thinks of his hometown and thinks of the poor days of watching watermelons. Moreover, he was afraid to return to his hometown. Hometown and hometown are not the same, parents are at home, now parents are gone, every time back to the door of the courtyard of the hometown, the legs and stomach are weak. A person, no matter how successful you are on the outside, most wants to let their parents share it with you. Although his parents were there, he created the best conditions for them, but when his parents really left, his heart was still empty. Cao Gaosheng often asked himself, is the village called Cheng Cao Village still his own? Can I go back?

Cao Gaosheng's words made me cry bitterly. Yes, we are all once leaping earth, and today we have grown up, where should our hearts be fixed in the emotional wandering of the city and the countryside at the turn of the century? No one tells us the answer, and perhaps there will never be an answer.
