In the 1915 Yuan Shikai "Hongxian Imperial System" ugly drama, Yuan Shikai's son Yuan Keding was also a figure who played a comical role.

Among Yuan Shikai's seventeen sons, Yuan Keding, as the eldest son, has long been deeply valued by his father. He not only studied in Germany, proficient in German and English, but also in all aspects of piano, chess, calligraphy and painting. Such a "talented" son was a good helper for Yuan Shikai when he was stationed in Korea during the JiaWu period.

When Yuan Shikai stomped on the Qing court and became the president of the powerful Republic of China, Yuan Keding also followed suit. Xia Wuyi, Yuan Shikai's secretary, complained:

At that time, Yuan Keding carved a "Golden Seal of the Great Prince" for himself. Old Daddy hadn't sat on the dragon chair yet, and he had first passed the prince's addiction.

However, it was during the peak of Yuan Shikai's life that Yuan Keding, who regarded himself as the "Great Prince", mainly did one thing: pit daddy.

In particular, the pit is to "dismantle" Yuan Shikai's "entrepreneurial team". Since he regarded himself as a "great prince", Yuan Keding, who really regarded himself as a "prince", pondered the knowledge of the feudal emperor's "bird full of bows and hides".

Treating Yuan Shikai's two big arms, Feng Guozhang, Duan Qirui, it was like seeing a chaotic courtier. Not only did he give Yuan Shikai a daily rumor, desperately saying bad things about these two brothers, racking his brains to seize Duan Qirui's military power.

Even during the Spring Festival, he forced these two people to kneel down and worship themselves, and Duan Qirui scolded angrily: "Where does that great uncle (Yuan Keding) still treat us as people." ”

Later, Yuan Shikai claimed that the emperor had failed, and the generals of the Various Armies of the Beiyang Department had all become the thunder scene of throwing their hands in charge, and it cannot but be said that it was very yuan Keding's "credit" to it.

Also pitted is Yuan Shikai's "great cause of claiming the emperor.". Compared with his father Yuan Shikai's addiction to being an emperor, Yuan Keding's impulse to be the crown prince was not bad, so after the whole saddle, in addition to organizing a "citizen petition group", desperately creating momentum for Yuan Shikai to be emperor, he also came out to face Liang Qichao and other celebrities who were soft and hard.

He even gave full play to his literary and artistic talents and created a fake "Shuntian Times" (a Japanese newspaper), on which he sang praises to "Yuan Shikai as emperor" every day, and regarded his father Yuan Shikai as overjoyed, until Yuan Shikai's daughter Yuan Jingxue found a flaw, and this matter was worn.

For this reason, Yuan Shikai, the "great president" who was furious at that time, beat yuan Keding, who was frightened to his knees, and scolded him for "deceiving his father and misleading the country."

After Yuan Shikai's death after the failure of the emperor, Yuan Keding's related "pit daddy" story has also been circulated in the folk since then, and even made up classic passages by cross-talk performance artists, bringing a lot of joy to the audience.

But to be fair, Yuan Keding, the "pit daddy", also has many commendable advantages, typically his filial piety. Don't look at the fact that he was plotting to be a "prince", but to his parents, he is really filial piety.

For example, after Yuan Shikai, who claimed to be the emperor's failure, fell ill, it was Yuan Keding, who was the eldest son, who stayed by his side to take care of him. After Yuan Shikai's death, Yuan Keding sadly slammed his head into Yuan Shikai's coffin, remorsefully saying, "Daddy! Father! I'm sorry for you".

Then, Yuan Keding, who had a leg disease (fell and fell disabled in 1913), helped his father's coffin back to his hometown in Henan for burial, and when he was buried, he insisted on three prostrations and nine prayers for ten days, and prayed for his father.

After that, he lived in Tianjin and took good care of and served his birth mother Yu Shi. After Yu's death, Yuan Keding once again traveled thousands of miles to bring his mother's coffin back to his hometown and buried it with his father Yuan Shikai.

Such filial piety also made Dong Xiaolan, an old subordinate of Yuan Shikai before his death, sigh: "Uncle (Yuan Keding) is finally worthy of the spirit of the president (Yuan Shikai) in heaven." ”

After Yuan Shikai's death, Yuan Keding's "dream of being a prince" was shattered, but the Yuan family's family foundation was still very thick. As the eldest son, Yuan Keding presided over the two separations of the Yuan family, and he himself shared a large amount of property. For nearly two decades, he lived in Tianjin (moved to Beiping in 1935).

At that time, Yuan Keding still had the spectrum of "Great Prince", and his relatives and friends still had to respectfully shout "Great Master" when they saw him. Any act such as nodding and shaking hands is "great disrespect."

Sometimes when I was bored in Tianjin, I ran to a foreign hospital in Beijing for "convalescence", and each time I "sent a lot of money" and "often more than a thousand".

However, the "great prince" of this "pendulum spectrum" is also a person who misses old feelings. Don't look at when you were a "great prince", you were wary of your father's subordinates, and later you became a "Yu Gong", but you often had a hot sausage.

For example, Wang Fengxiang, Xu Tiancheng, Ju Keming and other relatives of Yuan Shikai before his death were all arranged by Yuan Keding on errands and had a rich income. Yuan Zhenbiao, a subordinate who died to save Yuan Shikai, and his family also received long-term care from Yuan Keding.

Even in 1935, when Yuan Shikai's former defender Liu Baoqing became a traitor and was caught by the Twenty-ninth Army, it was Yuan Keding who ignored it and angrily sought out Song Zheyuan, the commander of the Twenty-ninth Army, to fish for people. Then he was punched in the face by Liu Baoqing's traitorous crime.

But this life looks very dashing. But this "great prince" Yuan Keding, in the final analysis, is a person who cannot rule the family. When you live in Tianjin, you eat and play every day. After moving to Beiping in 1935, he often spent time with a group of friends in the Summer Palace and other places, and every time he spent money to pay for it. Even if the family guards the golden mountain and silver mountain, it can't help but be so bad.

In 1928, the property of the Yuan family in their hometown in Henan was confiscated by the Nationalist government of the Northern Expedition. This was like a big bloodletting, and Yuan Keding's hands were suddenly tight. For several years after that, he basically relied on pawning the family's field property calligraphy and paintings to maintain his seemingly "dashing" life.

When the All-out War of Resistance Broke Out in 1937, Yuan Keding's property was almost squandered, and he even entrusted people to find the Nationalist government to carry out activities and ask the Nationalist government to return the confiscated property of the Yuan family.

The Japanese invaders were also very clear about Yuan Keding's difficulties. The Japanese, who were anxious to "collect the traitors," also shook an olive branch toward Yuan Keding.

First of all, he deliberately offered a high price to "buy" Yuan Keding's house to solve Yuan Keding's economic difficulties, but Yuan Keding frankly refused. Then the head of the Japanese secret service, Tu Feiyuan, showed his cards, and as long as Yuan Keding agreed to take up a false post, he could get a good salary.

But Yuan Keding only replied lightly: "Although ren has a source of wealth, he cannot be a traitor because of this." ”

In order to make the Japanese die, Yuan Keding's attitude of "not being a traitor" is also very high-profile. He made a special statement to clarify his attitude.

After Cao Kun, a Beiyang tyrant who also refused to be a traitor, died of illness, Yuan Keding also went to mourn. The "tofu block" article he published in the newspaper was also cut down and collected by many people as an heirloom.

This bear child, who Yuan Shikai called the emperor "a father by strength", became another banner of the anti-Japanese war era more than twenty years later, witnessing the Chinese integrity of the enemy-occupied areas.

After the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Yuan Keding, who was willing to guard poverty, was also completely impoverished. In addition to sitting on the mountain, his son also swept away his only stock, and the property was secretly sold by his own servants.

By 1948, it was even difficult to make a living. Fortunately, his cousin, Zhang Boju, one of the "Four Princes of the Republic of China", reached out to help and took Yuan Keding and his wife to live in his home. Relying on Zhang Boju's relief, he survived the dark years before the fall of the National Government.

After the founding of New China, the Central Museum of Culture and History arranged a job for Yuan Keding and enjoyed a monthly salary of 60 yuan per month, and Yuan Keding's life finally settled down.

Yuan Keding, who had an income, often received a salary and handed over his salary to Zhang Boju's family, but every time he was rejected by Zhang Boju: The family, tell me what these are for. In the 1950s, this legendary figure of the former Republic of China died peacefully in Zhang Boju's home.

After seeing his life of ups and downs, that turbulent Era of the Republic of China, how many ups and downs are all in it.
