The first monster: three sandworms in a bowl of dishes
Sandworms are a type of bug that lives along the beach. They lurk in sand mud holes at low tide and drill sand mud holes at high tide, hence the name.
Sand worms feed on sand grains, like an intestine, wash off the sand grains in the intestine, the whole worm is edible, and the taste is very good, and everyone who has eaten it knows. At present, due to the deterioration of the living environment of sandworms, the number is decreasing, so the price in the market is becoming more and more expensive, and each kilogram can be sold for about 50-60 yuan. The price of dried sandworms per kilogram is 500-700 yuan, which is much more expensive than pork and beef.
Second monster: the roots are wrapped around the bark
Outsiders come to Hainan Island and often see that in the tropical rainforest, some trees are entangled with strange roots and intertwined vines, forming a spectacle of "tree roots wrapped around the bark".
Originally, Hainan Island was rich in banyan trees. The vitality of the banyan tree is very tenacious. When its seeds are carried by the wind or birds to other trees, they take root and sprout, expanding down the bark of these trees until they reach the soil and become normal roots.
The third monster: the old woman climbs trees faster than the monkeys
Hainan Island is rich in fruits such as coconut and betel nut. Coconut and betel nut trees grow tall and straight, in order to pick coconuts and betel nuts, people on Hainan Island have trained to be good at climbing trees since childhood, and women are no exception. Even at the age of 50 or 60, they can climb trees flexibly, no slower than monkeys.
The elderly can climb trees, and their bodies are certainly good, so there are many centenarians in Hainan.
The fourth monster: a locust as a belt
This kind of locust, also known as the mountain locust, the scientific name is "Hainan mountain leech", mostly found in mountain streams, bamboo forests and low-lying areas in mountainous areas, not only in large numbers, but also in size. When people walk through this area, there are often mountain locusts falling on their bodies, and people do not know at all, and unconsciously are sucked a lot of blood by mountain locusts. After sucking up the blood, the mountain locust can rise to more than 10 times larger than usual, looking like a red belt, which is shocking.
Therefore, when the rainy season comes, locals will warn tourists to avoid climbing after the rain. Even if you want to climb a mountain, don't go near the mountain streams and bamboo forests. Now, Hainan's ecological environment has become better, and there are many fewer mountain locusts.
The fifth monster: the bull's head rains and the cow's tail is sunburned
There is a place in Hainan called Niuling. Standing at the top of Niuling, you can overlook the endless sea. On the left is Sun Moon Bay with a large area of rare plant Green Peel Forest, and on the right is perfume bay with a large silver sand beach. The magic of Niuling is that it is the dividing line between the northern part of Hainan (northern tropical region) and the southern part (central tropical region), and when it rains heavily on The Sun Moon Bay, perfume bay is windy and sunny. This is the origin of "the head of the bull rains and the tail of the cow is sunburned".
Hainan's climate is changeable, with uncertain rain and sunshine. Often not far apart, the climate is very different. Niuling is the embodiment of this climatic characteristic.
The sixth monster: the bucket on the head is used as a pot lid
"I am a farmer's son, and I used to be a shepherd in my childhood. Riding on the back of an upside-down bull, the stalk blows the bamboo. During the Ming Dynasty, Qiu Mao, a scholar of Wenyuange University who went out from Hainan, wrote this five-character poem to the inscription of Xu Jun's "Hundred Bull Diagrams", depicting the image of a shepherd boy wearing a bucket hat, wearing a robe, and playing a horizontal flute.
Bucket hat is a kind of sun and rain shelter commonly used by Hainan people. The sunshine in Hainan is strong, and it is sunny and rainy. Everyone loves to wear a big hat when they go out. Some people jokingly said: "Bucket can be used as a pot lid, a big monster in Hainan." "Nowadays, with the improvement of people's living conditions, the bucket has become less and less, and it has been replaced by various types of beautifully made umbrellas.
The seventh monster: the train is not as fast as the ox cart
Hainan is mountainous and hilly, and the traffic is inconvenient. Although as early as 70 years ago, Hainan built a narrow-gauge railway, but the speed is so slow that no ox cart runs fast, which is what people joke about "the train is not as fast as the ox cart".
Over the years, Hainan has built the East Ring High-Speed Railway and the West Ring High-Speed Railway, forming the Hainan Ring Island Railway. Coupled with the Guangdong-Haikou Railway Hainan West Ring Road, Hainan's railway construction is no longer what it used to be, and after the train has been accelerated many times, the speed is very fast, and it is no longer slow.
The eighth monster: fried eggs on bluestone slabs
Hainan is located in the northern edge of the tropics, belongs to the tropical monsoon climate, has always been known as the "natural greenhouse". In the height of summer, the temperature becomes high under the direct sun. At this time, the eggs are beaten on a hot bluestone slab, which can be fried to eat.
However, although the temperature in Hainan is hot in summer, due to its proximity to the sea, abundant rainfall, cool sea breeze, and beautiful scenery, it has become an excellent place for people to escape the summer. On a clear day, blowing the sea breeze on the beach in Hainan and seeing the sea view is a good choice.
