Today, there are new discoveries in the Species Kingdom of Hainan!
The Zhongshan University Discipline Examination Team recently discovered a new species of sea bug insects in the world at Antelope Reef in the Xisha Islands of Hainan Province.
It looks like this ↓↓

The expedition team named it antelope reef sea bug based on its location.
According to reports, this is the first time that insects of the sea bug family have been found in China, and it is a new record family of insects in China.
This is also the first time that Chinese scientists have named a new species of animals with the name of a single island and reef in the South China Sea, which is of special significance for safeguarding the country's rights and interests in the South China Sea.
Xie Qiang, a professor at the School of Life Sciences of Sun Yat-sen University who accompanied the team, said that the body length of such sea bugs is only 3 mm to 4 mm, living on the surface of the ocean, sometimes hiding in small holes in coral stones, and living by preying on small arthropods. Not only are they small, but their movements are also very rapid and difficult to capture.
Fresh creatures not only have antelope reef sea bugs, in recent years, found a lot of interesting new species in Hainan, now with the editor to see it ~ ~ ~ ~
New species: Zhou's eyelid tiger
In August 2018, a new species of the genus Blephazard was discovered in the karst area of Hainan Island, which was officially named "Zhou's Eyelid Tiger".
The four-legged claw tip of the eyelid tiger has no suction cup, so it cannot be adsorbed and climbed like a gecko, but can only crawl. The Zhou eyelid tiger was first found to inhabit a typical karst geomorphological area at an altitude of 220-300 meters above sea level in the central region of Hainan Island, surrounded by moist tropical evergreen broad-leaved forests.
At present, a total of 17 independent species of eyelid tigers have been found worldwide, and there are two known species in Hainan, one is the Hainan eyelid tiger, which was discovered and named by the scientist Barbour in 1908; the other is the Bawangling eyelid tiger, which was discovered and named by the scientist Grismer et al in 2002.
The Zhou's eyelid tiger is the third species of the blepharin tiger found in Hainan and the first species of the blepharin tiger species found independently by the Chinese in Hainan Island.
New species: Boletus aureus asteris
Do you know this "mushroom"? ↓↓ It is the next protagonist - dark brown golden spore bolet.
In February 2017, Zeng Niankai, a professor at the School of Pharmacy of Hainan Medical College, and Jiang Shuai, a staff member of the Scientific Research and Monitoring Department of Parrot Ridge, discovered this new species in Hainan Parrot Ridge. This is a new species that has not yet been described, and is named Dark Brown Golden Spore Boletus because of its dark brown cap.
Past studies have shown that most species of the genus Aureus are distributed in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, with a few species distributed in subtropical forests. The discovery of the members of the genus at Parrot Ridge confirmed for the first time the distribution of the genus in the tropical regions of the world.
"In-depth understanding of these fungi and the resource survey of exophytic mycorrhizal bacteria in various forest areas in Hainan will have positive significance for the conservation of tropical forests and the afforestation of barren mountains." Professor Zeng Niankai said.
New species: Hainan yellow beef boletus
This new species is very interesting and the color changes as soon as you touch it! It was also found in The Parrot Ridge in Hainan.
Porcini mushrooms generally refer to those that grow on the ground, fruiting bodies are fleshy, easy to decay, and the fruit layer is densely tubed. There are now more than 1,300 species known in the world, and there are more than 100 species of boletus currently found in Hainan.
"Some other porcini mushrooms also change color, but rarely do they become so wonderful as this." The researchers said that the main feature of the new species of boletus is that the individual is large, and the diameter of the cap can reach 20 cm when mature, while other porcini mushrooms, the diameter of the cap usually does not exceed 10 cm; in addition, the most interesting thing is its wonderful discoloration phenomenon, its original pore surface is yellow, and the flesh is white. Touch the pores and flesh under the cap with your hand, and it will quickly turn blue, then red, and finally black.
According to reports, most species of porcini mushrooms can form a symbiotic relationship with plants such as The Shell Family, Dipterocarpaceae, pine family, etc., and play an indispensable role in forest conservation.
New species: Pinnacle Pepper
In July 2015, a pepper resource breeding research team from the Institute of Spices and Beverages of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences first discovered the species during a field expedition at Jianfengling in Ledong.
This new species, distributed at an altitude of 500 to 800 meters above sea level in the Jianfengling Nature Reserve, was named Jianfengling pepper.
Pinnacle Ridge pepper has a strong attachment force, it can climb on the rock, into a huge clump, or climb on the trunk of more than ten meters high, straight into the sky.
Looking at the morphology alone, The Pinnacle Ridge pepper is no different from other species, but in the eyes of the professional team, its petiole, its flower spikes, its bracts, its seeds, etc. are all "hidden mysteries".
Once Jianfengling pepper was discovered, the domestic pepper genus in China increased from 60 species to 61 species, of which 12 species were found in Hainan.
According to the International Union for Plant Conservation (IUCN) species endangerment rating criteria, Pinnacle pepper is assessed as a critically endangered species, and more investigation and conservation research is urgently needed.
New species: Hainan wingless insect
Hainan wingless insect is a new insect species discovered in Hainan by Doctor of Entomology Research Department of Shanghai Normal University, and named it "Hainan Wingless Insect".
Wingless insects are a rare primitive insect that has been recorded in only 1 genus and 39 species worldwide, mainly in tropical and subtropical regions on both sides of the equator.
After reading these new species, are you full of interest in the nature of Hainan?
Hainan's forest resources and marine resources are abundant, and its unique geographical environment and climatic conditions have bred extremely rich biological resources.
Diverse biological resources can not only maintain the ecological balance of the natural world, but also provide good environmental conditions for our survival.
As ordinary people, we must protect biodiversity and love the environment.
Let Hainan's good ecology become Hainan's biggest feature and the strongest advantage of development.
