Eight months ago, Zhang Kai, a graduate of mechanical engineering, came to the meteorological system "cross-border" and was responsible for meteorological support. "I don't know anything, how can I be responsible for meteorological work?" Many comrades in the system are not convinced.
In the face of doubts, Zhang Kai did not care, but threw himself into learning. Memorize post documents, study operating procedures, ask old comrades for advice... After a few months, I studied all the posts in the meteorological system and successfully passed the commander post assessment.
In the process of learning post documents, the careful Zhang Kai found that there were many unscientific and reasonable places in the operating procedures, so he led the post personnel to discuss and modify them overnight, often working until one or two o'clock in the morning.
"I think while studying, and research while discussing, because I came 'cross-border', so I have to work harder than others." Zhang Kai said.
"In such a short period of time, he has grown from a 'layman' to a systematic command, behind which is a lot of efforts that are difficult for ordinary people to reach, as well as his spirit of daring to question and explore!" Tang Anzhi, an old technician in the system, was sincerely impressed.

Although the task is arduous, Zhang Kai frankly said that the responsibility is heavy, the mission is glorious, and the work is also very strong. "Each rocket flight puts forward different requirements for our meteorological system, and we have done a lot of homework to solve the various problems in the meteorological precision support process." As a newcomer in the command team, Zhang Kai was nervous and excited. In view of the characteristics of this season, he actively communicated with the meteorological department at the higher level to standardize and clarify the early warning standards for lightning, heavy rain and high wind in the Wenchang launch site area to improve the timeliness and accuracy of the dangerous weather warning at the ground observation post.
In order to ensure the quality of data on the launch day, Zhang Kai led the responsible persons of each post to go deep into the front line, count the number of spare parts for the post, carefully formulate important equipment status assurance measures, and strive to be prepared in advance and in the first place.
The day before the launch, under the influence of strong convective air, the wind and clouds above the launch site suddenly changed, and heavy rain and lightning thundered. Zhang Kai quickly organized personnel deployment, optimized post strength, strengthened duty observation, continuous monitoring of rain, and ensured timely reporting of accurate meteorological data, providing a reliable basis for command decision-making.
"As a commander for the first time, although I led the system to successfully complete the task, I also found some shortcomings in the system, including my own, and then I must seriously review and summarize, study and train harder, and ensure that the follow-up meteorological support tasks are completely successful."
