Beijing has worked hard to build the capital of the seed industry

High-quality dairy cattle breeding, Beijing black pig, Beijing series layer chicken, Beijing oil chicken, Beijing duck and cherry valley duck, Jingke 968 corn, Beijing new No. 3 Chinese cabbage, Beijing wheat series hybrid wheat... Recently, these modern seed industry achievements that are deeply rooted in Beijing and are related to national food security and people's livelihood interests were unveiled at the 29th China Beijing Seed Industry Conference.
Beijing is the science and technology center of the country, and the creation of the seed industry has a unique advantage. Zheng Yu, head of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, summarized the achievements of the development of Beijing's modern seed industry with "three centers and one platform", namely the National Seed Industry Talent Gathering Center, the National Seed Industry Innovation Center, the National Seed Industry Enterprise Gathering Center and the Beijing Seed Industry Conference, a national seed industry exchange and trading platform.
"The development of Beijing's seed industry has deep roots, bringing together more than one-third of the national seed industry research national team and more than 80% of the national seed industry scientific research forces. Every year, more than 400 new varieties of various crops are bred, and the cumulative promotion of 968 corn varieties in Jingke exceeds 100 million mu, which is the largest planting area in the current national spring sown corn; the independent cultivation of Ward series white feather broiler chickens lays the foundation for ensuring the independent and controllable breeding source of white feather broilers; egg breeders and dairy cows account for 58% and 40% of the domestic market respectively, and the annual output of sturgeon fry accounts for about 70% of the country. As a leading enterprise with strong industrial advantages in the field of livestock and poultry breeding in China, Shounong Food Group has a number of fine breeding brands with independent intellectual property rights, and has obtained more than 650 patents in major livestock and poultry breeds such as cattle industry, pig industry, layer chicken, broiler chicken and Beijing duck. Among them, the "Beijing series" layer chicken is currently the only high-yield excellent layer chicken breed that is not controlled by foreign countries, with a domestic market share of more than 50%, Ward 168 broiler chicken, Beijing oil chicken, "Nankou No. 1" Beijing duck and so on are well-known brands. The scale of breeding duck breeding and egg breeding chickens ranks first in the world, and the scale of breeding cattle leads the country.
At the Beijing Seed Industry Conference in China, the Beijing Biological Seed Industry Innovation Consortium led by Shounong Food Group was officially launched. "In the future, we will take the innovation consortium as the carrier, coordinate the superior resources of all parties, work together to carry out joint research on biological breeding, break through a number of card neck technologies, and build a world-leading national biological seed industry innovation center." Wang Guofeng, secretary of the party committee and chairman of Shounong Food Group, said.

Zhao Jiuran, chief expert of the Maize Research Institute of the Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences, said that after years of hard work, the scientific research team of the Maize Institute has now bred more than 100 new varieties of corn in the "Jingke" series. Among them, Jingke 968 is one of the three leading varieties in China and has won the National Science and Technology Progress Award.
The "Jingke Glutinous 2000" selected and bred by corn is the most common fresh corn variety on the market, with a perennial planting area of about 5 million mu, accounting for about 50% of the total area of glutinous corn in China, and has been planted for more than 100 million mu. It has also gone abroad and become the main cultivar in Vietnam and other countries. The Maize Research Institute of Beijing Academy of Agriculture and Forestry Sciences has also newly built the world's largest database of standard DNA fingerprints of corn.
Breaking the monopoly of foreign germplasm resources is another bright spot in the development of Beijing's seed industry. The Chinese colored carp," which was "born" in the sub-center of Beijing, allowed breeding to bid farewell to imports, breaking the problem of Japanese koi "stuck neck" to China in germplasm resources for many years. This year, as a "special gift", these carp were put into the Jinshui River and the Royal Garden Landscape Pool of the Palace Museum in Beijing, and officially "settled" in the Forbidden City. At the same time, the new varieties of lilies "Sweetheart" and "Little Starfish" jointly developed and cultivated by Beijing Huaxiang Huamu Group and Beijing Forestry University have also broken the monopoly of foreign countries on the domestic lily bulb industry. These two new varieties are popular for their bright colors and high flowering volumes.
The 29th China Beijing Seed Industry Conference, with the theme of "One Seed Changes the World, The Revitalization of the Seed Industry and Beijing First" also put forward higher requirements for the development of the seed industry in Beijing. In the process of promoting the development of the seed industry, Beijing continues to explore and accumulate and practice the experience of "market leadership, enterprise mainstay, scientific research backing, and government guarantee", and in the future, it will compile and implement the implementation plan for the revitalization of The seed industry in Beijing, organize the implementation of the "4520" (mainly including the four major seed industries of crops, livestock and poultry, aquatic products, and forest fruits, and implement 20 key projects of 5 major actions of germplasm resources protection and utilization, seed industry innovation research, seed industry enterprise support, seed industry base improvement, and seed industry innovation environment optimization).
