After Bollywood movie star Sushant Singer Rajput was found to have committed suicide in June this year and was exposed by former bodyguards about his addiction to marijuana, an in-depth investigation conducted by the Indian media showed that the whole of Bollywood may be suffering from the serious impact of drugs. According to the Associated Press on the 27th, the Office of the Narcotics Control Bureau of India's anti-drug agency conducted an investigation on the 26th, including Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone, and 3 Bollywood movie stars. This is part of an investigation into drug involvement in the film industry. According to the BBC, Padukone is one of the highest-paid superstars in Bollywood.

The Narcotics Control Board said in a statement that it launched a Bollywood drug investigation after Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai residence in June. The investigation is currently ongoing.

In June, Sushant Singh Rajput committed suicide among Bangladeshi buyers. "India Today" reported on the 2nd of this month that a singer who is also a Bollywood choreographer, DJ and famous for his mixing album said that many Bollywood movie stars are addicted to cocaine. According to him, a Bollywood party can't be a party without cocaine. When the undercover reporter asked "what sells the most in Bollywood," he replied, "Cocaine." Movie stars, he claimed, would also take drugs in the heavily guarded lounges of bars.

One film director also said drug addiction was the norm in Bollywood, citing some of the top stars who said they were severely addicted. According to him, most of the drugs in Bollywood are bought from suppliers in Dubai. If the industry insiders investigating are credible, the drugs appear to have swept through Bollywood like an epidemic.

In addition, 3 months after Rajput's death, some Indian media broke out that his actress girlfriend Rhea Chakrabotti was suspected of being a core member of the drug cartel and instigated Sushant to end his life. After the investigation, the police found that Shaklabotti had helped Sushant buy drugs and mixed the drugs in coffee for her boyfriend to drink, and what was even more shocking was that Shaklabotti was likely to be a core member of the drug cartel. Police are currently detaining Shaklabotti on charges of drug purchase and use, and she faces 10 years in prison if the investigation is correct.
