This story is found in "The New Language of the World, Fangzheng", the main purpose is to show Guo Huai's character of both abiding by the law and valuing righteousness: first obeying the law of the land to let his wife go on the road to take the guilt, then taking care of the family affection to recover the wife, pleading with the above and admitting guilt.

However, the stationmaster did not use the original text of the "Shishu Xinyu" (hereinafter referred to as the "Passing Edition") here, but used the quotation of Pei Songzhi's annotations (hereinafter referred to as the "Pei Annotation Edition") from the "Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Wei Shu, and Mantian Zhiguo Biography". Because the webmaster feels that there are major plot loopholes in the "general version":

Guo Huai was the governor of Guanzhong, and he won the people's affection and often fought. Huai's wife, the sister of Taiwei Wang Ling, sat on Ling's affairs and cursed him. The messenger was in a hurry, and the envoy was dressed, and the messenger was sent. The prefecture capital Wenwu and the people advised Huai to raise troops, but Huai did not allow it. At that time, tens of thousands of wives were sent and the people wept and chased after them. ★★★★★ After traveling for tens of miles, Huai Nai ordered the lady to chase after her left and right, so Wen Wu galloped, as if she was in a hurry. Even so, The Book of Huai and Emperor Xuan said: "The five sons mourn and miss their mother, and if their mother dies, there are no five sons." If the fifth son is dead, there will be no more Huai. "Emperor Xuan is the cousin, the wife of Teyuan Huai."

First, the plot of "Huai Wuzi prostrating his head and bleeding, Huai can't bear to look at it" is missing at the standard ★★★★★, so that the plot connection is very awkward:

1. There is a lack of logical connection between the moment he hardens his heart and lets his wife do the law to the sudden change of heart and mind to chase his wife back.

2. There was nothing wrong with the son before, but in his letter to Sima Yi, he said out of thin air that his son was sad to death, which was suspected of fraud; and the son's grief was not intuitively expressed (prostrating his head and bleeding), which was difficult to convince.

3. On the whole, it feels that the traces of Guo Huai's show are very obvious: deliberately letting his wife go on the road and appearing to abide by the law; and then using the son as an excuse to intercede, creating a "five-good family" image of "father is kind and loving, son filial piety, and mother is pitiful" is miserable - this is a blatant provocation to The IQ of Sima Xuanwang, which is unconvincing.

Second, the "popular version" even has such a description as "the state capital Wenwu and the people persuade Huaihuai to raise troops". This is a major issue of principle, and if there is such a thing, Guo Huai said that "if the five sons are killed, there will be no more Huai", but I am afraid that it will be difficult to wash away the suspicion of threats. With Sima Yi's suspiciousness and viciousness, such "intercession" was only afraid of causing disaster.

According to the blind guess of the webmaster, Pei Songzhi is basically the same as the era when the book was written in the world, and what he saw was more likely to be the original. The "pass-through version" may have made mistakes and omissions in the process of circulation. However, the "Pei Annotation Edition" also has slight flaws: the quotation of "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" immediately follows Guo Huai's biography, and readers already know Guo Huai's deeds and character from the biography, so there is no need to specifically explain the background of "Guo Huai as the governor of Guanzhong and even the people's feelings" like the "common version". However, if it is put forward in a separate document, the intercession and grief of the officers and soldiers and the people will be like water without a source, and readers will need to make up for it. The webmaster thinks it might as well merge the two into one:
